Hello everyone, I thought I would post a sneak preview of my game using the Open Game License through Mongoose.
Tread-Head: Armored Combat in WW2 is a 40 page rulebook for fielding either a US Medium Tank Company or a German Panzerkompanie during 1944 and 1945.
The Tread-Head system uses Battlefield Evolution: World at War as its foundation and adds to the environment with 8 new vehicles for the US and 9 for Germany, including the heavy hitters in the shape of the M26 Pershing and the JagdTiger. Light units are included as well, along with rules to allow your scout-car to lead tank-destroyers to a perfect ambush position. Pick a veteran Captain or Hauptmann with unique abilities to drive his forces to victory.
Tread-Head puts the give-and-take back into armored combat by allowing AFVs to react to one another, and uses a battle damage system to add detail to the occasional critical hit while still keeping the game fast-paced.
Below are two examples from Tread-Head. The first shows off part of the Bolt-on Rules system which adds additional detail to the excellent Battlefield Evolution: World at War rulebook. The Bolt-on system boils down to additional traits used with new army lists and new units. These provide additional options for players. This supplement provides stats for additional vehicles beyond what are available in the core rulebook, rather than replacing existing units. Additionally, all of the units presented in Tread-Head are compatible with a game played using only the Battlefield Evolution: World at War rulebook, and are marked to fit within its Support and Armor selections. Tread-Head really shines as it scales up, with a 12 tank battle taking only 30 minutes! (6 Shermans and 2 Pershings vs 2 Tigers and 2 Panthers. For the record, with only one hit left my last Pershing finished off his last Tiger after carefully maneuvering through the field of burning tank hulls. I can't wait to double the points!) The second preview shows you one of the new units available. What it doesn't show you is how it interacts with its squadron (platoon) and with its HQ, or what size hole the 90mm M3 gun makes in German armor (a big one). Look for these in future previews!
To answer a few questions already asked. It will be released as soon as the paperwork clears. If I could do it myself it would be available tomorrow!
