Traveller Writers Wanted!

Maybe variations should be defined. If it's something that doesn't effect the deckplans (ie: computer upgrade, changing the weapons in the turret as examples) would that still require new deckplans?

No - if you start rearranging the ship, it will naturally need deckplans, but if plans already exist, we can always use those instead.

I should've been more clear with my first question. I was thinking along the line of Andrew, upgrades that don't impact the deck plan vice rearranging compartments within an existing ship.

This probably is a silly question but do you prefer that promising writers start with a query letter or dive right into the submissions?

Okay, getting through a few more of these now - going to need some more to top me back up soon!

Two pieces of advice I can give to all prospective writers, after seeing a few of these now...

1. Do not use contractions (don't, won't, can't), unless it is in dialogue - someone actually speaking. It looks bad in text and, frankly, is counterproductive if you are to be paid per word!

2. Every time you use the word 'that,' consider it. Look at the word, and read the entire sentence out loud. Nine times out of ten, you will find the word 'that' is redundant. Get rid of it.

This may be a silly question, but how much do you folks want an NPC to receive a Stat-Block vs. just one or two generalizations about that NPC professionally that can be filled in by the GM? As it's a relatively small article, I'm concerned that I'd end up taking up a lot of words with the statistical stuff unnecessarily, unless those are just icing on the cake sorts of things. From what I've read Aramis is relatively lacking NPC stats whilst I know Secrets of the Ancients has stat-blocks for most of the NPC's.

Should I just chuck the stat-blocks in and leave it to be sorted out assuming it gets accepted?

Lastly, a question which should precede all my other meandering questions: Submissions are still wanted, right?

Rule #2 also applies to "in order to", just say "to". This was a pet peeve of a teacher for a Creative Writing course I took several years ago and now is mine, too.

And now I have another word to look at when I write. I already knew about #1.

Rule 3) Invest in a thesaurus. Synonyms are your friend.

Right, got a bit of a 'drive' going on right now to get through articles, and some emails of acceptance have just gone off - which means we are going to be needing some more articles to top up the pile soon!

Will happily consider anything, but would be very interested in;

Patrons: Use the same format as in the second edition 760 Patrons.
Pirate groups: Their ship(s), personnel, history, etc.
Vehicles and Modifications: Using the Vehicle Handbook.
Aslan Clans

Also, will consider 2300AD articles. However, on these, try to keep them fairly 'general' for any campaign. be aware that we are still detailing the universe, so stay away from super-detailing colonies and planets, but new equipment, adventures, and the like would be just fine!

Thats handy

Well, that I can do, I know what to avoid. You've piles of eI ships and 2 articles (1 collaboration) so 2300AD I can do, I've the Bandersnatch and the Clarke can get sorted...

Got an article here without a name on it - Siduri Station. I think I know whose it is, but if you would come forward, I would be grateful!

Would Mongoose be willing to take new careers (not new skills, just new specialties and a couple of "skill tricks")?

Matt, I'm creating a load of demons (animal encounters) for Cold Mountain/Delta Pavonis for the 2300AD game I'm running at Continuum later this month. Would you be interested in me rewriting it into an article layout afterwards, or does it stray too far into the detailing planets category?
