Matthew and I have confirmed the Credits for the Zhodani book, so I'm confident everyone on my list will be there :D

And yes, I've avoided posting anything about the book until now because I didn't want to jinx it.

From what I saw in the preview of the Zhodani book, I think it will not be jinxed (I certainly liked what I saw). :D :D

There's always going to be arguments but that's human nature.

The Zhodani book and PDF are now out in the wild, apparently. How do the credits look?

(And the rest of the book, of course)

Hmm. It has credits for something. Note it still says Darrians...

Hmmm, says Zhodani here, even if there is a reference to Darrians so may not be the final page. Though there is at least one credit missing from that.

"Original Darrians Alien Module"

And I can ID two missing names, at least. Also, Don is listed twice.

Yeah, that was the Darrian reference I mentioned.

Just pulled out Alien Module 3: Darrians to compare, there are some credits that are different between the two (that one was also missing at least one credit though).

Wow! I didn't catch that Darrian mistake! I hope that isn't what was used for the print copy too! That will be embarrassing!

That's the same sample page as was originally put up on the Mongoose site. It's a place-holder. If Mongoose accidentally sent the wrong pdf, well you can imagine what I'd think of that....

Not to put to fine a point on it, why use the credits page in the preview if you know it's wrong?

If you are talking about the preview on our site, the contents/credits page is the last thing that gets updated when a book is being put together. The _only_ reason it appears at all in previews is because people asked for it!

As for the PDF on Drivethru/RPGNow, we are updating it as I type.

Having experience with things like lists of references for papers, attendees at conferences and similar, I completely understand.

No matter what you do, something will change half an hour after the "final, final, definitely right this time bugger this I'm off home" version gets emailled to the printer/hotel/journal/whatever.

The _only_ reason it appears at all in previews is because people asked for it!
Fair enough. It did seem an odd decision...

Multitasking! You fiend!

Then I will take this to mean once I get my hands on the print copy I won't be seeing "Darrians" on the credit page!

:P

The pdf preview has been updated, except the credits are still incorrect. Apparently the author gives himself special thanks. I don't think Don's that vain.

Honestly, watching Mongoose is sometimes like watching the Keystone Cops.

I've found if you watch any RPG company closely enough they all look that way. They all make frikkin mistakes, Mongoose is in no way exceptional in that regard. IT would be nice if they were exceptional in NOT making mistakes, but at least they aren't the worst. In fact, if their errata is complete and does cover all actual mistakes, they are actually one of the better companies around. Far better than the "big boys on the block", Paizo and WOTC. Have you looked at their lists of errata?

Fantasy Flight are the same at times. The latest Deathwatch errata - here are new statlines for weapons. All weapons. All of them.

Oh, and half your traits to boot because we've realized that letting your characters wipe out entire platoons with a single burst of fire kind of takes some of the challenge out of the game.
