Traveller at Gencon Indy 2009

Rex

Mongoose
Just a quick note to say thanks to all the folks that showed up to play in our Traveller events. This game by far is one of our biggest hits, tables fill up quick, folks come back for more.....

Amazing what you can do with this system really. Our scheduled events were everything from intros including character generation, to 4 hour crime games 2 hours danger games the works. The pick up games even went further into Sci Fi, showing off the games ability to on the fly, handle settings from Chalkers Well World, to Dune; Forever War to Cowboy Bebob, and Yes, just because I got my hands on Aslan, a Thundercats pick up game at 2am after a good several hours at Claddagh.

Looking forward to more Traveller in the years to come. We had a great time and that's before we even got into the Hammers Slammers and Judge Dredd material (other threads....heh)....

Hope to see you all at the next Con. Thanks and Game On.

~Rex....The Black Hand.....Mongoose Infantry.

Nezeray ran our game and it was a lot of fun (I was Cpl Grunge). BTW Nezeray, can you send me that character sheet, it worked great! Can't wait for next year!!!

Heh, I heard some really good things about the other Traveller and Mongoose Infantry Events as well, but was simply to busy jumping from Game to Game to Game, (and showing off just how fun the games can be, I snuck into our CONAN game with some bad misjump lost merchants :D)....Wouldn't mind seeing some of their posts here as well. I have to say, I really liked the feel I got from the players about Mongoose's current batch of Products.

Just the fact that you can sit there and watch a bunch of people have a blast just MAKING the character, and the elegance and ease of the system allows for such great off the cuff Role Play makes the "work" of the Con worth all the effort. My only wish was that I was hoping that Mongoose would have stocked the booth with more pocket guides. I had a lot of folks (myself included) that just wanted to run down there and buy three or four of them.

Not because of the price difference either, but theirs just that spark of LBB that the pocket guide reignites, and well, Like Old Joe Dredd, I'm no spring chicken anymore and I'll admit while I can still bench my body weight, it's getting a bit tougher to lug the 150 pound gamer bag all over the con.

Though for some reason the Paranoia folks, were keeping quite quiet about their new book.

the Aslan Game went over real well to. I need to find a bit of time to jump over to that thread and poke on a few things with my dewclaw.

We were CRAZY busy on Thursday at the booth, and I know of at least two 2 or 3-pocket guide sales that day. Those things flew off the table, so I am not surprised they weren't around for the whole con. We ran out of Central Supply Catalogues early Saturday morning, as well.

It is a bittersweet fact - the good stuff goes fastest!

You're not kidding Bry I could sell those things at the table non stop. That Central Supply Catalog, is a must have. I'm just glad there was a couple of copies of Scoundrel left when I finally got to the booth.

Also, kudos to the booth staff as well I heard nothing but compliments from the players that came back for seconds and thirds about their experience at the booth. The only bad thing was, like I said, the game has legs, and when folks see how much fun it is, they leg down to the booth to buy it all. heh....

I'm one of those that picked up 3 pocket Traveller books; 1 for the wife and 2 for friends. I got my Mongoose shopping done early, my only regrets were that the GM screen, Civilian Vehicles, and Military Vehicles books didn't make the CON.

Yeah on one hand I feel that pain one the other Hand, I had to pick up, the Classic Starships and Project Steel, as well as Scoundrel and Aslan. The Screen and Vehicles books would have meant a very long and rainy walk home.

Pocket Guide is the bomb though. I bought 6 of them here at my FLGS and I use them for shop Demo's, which of course results in the shop, running out of pocket guides.

Now don't get me wrong though I also have a couple of the hard back copies as well, but being from the LBB days, I just dig the Pocket Guides for all the Mongoose product.
