Cosmic Mongoose
I was looking through the website for Traveller 1E and I see there are quite a number of 1E PDFs available for sale, but I did not see MGP 3800, the core rulebook up on the site.

Is there a reason this book is not available?

But they don’t have to. That’s a conscious choice Mongoose makes. A lot of publishers on DTRPG do not watermark their files.

DTRPG appends your name and account number to PDFs in a bottom corner of the pages.
I just went and re-downloaded it and no name and account number on the bottom of the pages on my PDF. Maybe Mongoose elected not to on this one?

And look, we all share portions of copy written material with our players. It's 'fair use'. So long as it's not for profit and personal gaming use only, you're golden-- even if you post it to, say, r20.
And if anyone brings up any issues, all you have to do is issue an attribution page and quit-claim any authorship.

Well that's interesting. All my other PDFs from Mongoose had a watermark. Maybe they changed that, Let me check.

Yeah that is weird. All my legacy 1e stuff on my computer has the watermarks but I haven’t re-downloaded any 1e stuff in a long time.

Anyone using the DTRPG app to manage their libraries? Maybe that’s why?…

The reason why the 1e stuff isn't watermarked and the 2e stuff is is because the 2e stuff has copywritten art and text that the ill-intentioned folks out there might pirate. The 1e stuff is 15+ years old and is outdated.

Generating a name and order number on each page of a pdf requires a program, that costs money, to run at each purchase.
Mongoose is already paying DTRPG for hosting/selling their pdf's, so might as well take advantage of it.
Perhaps they don't want to pay for the program/service on their own website.
Perhaps it's a European regulation thing.
Who knows? (Besides people like Matt and Bella)

Can't use prepaid giftcards at overseas publishers, so I bite the bullet. I never use a real credit card online.
Check out Privacy.com. Lets you make burner credit card numbers you can use and delete. You can also leave them and tie them to a specific vendor and maximum amount. I have one set up for drivethrurpg.com that will only work on that website and won't let me spend more than $50.00. If anyone gets ahold of that number, it won't work for them.
