TL15/16 Dreadnought - What Weapons and Systems?

It's mainly bad etiquette because it looks like you're trying to hide something or don't like criticism. It also looks childish. if you want it back on topic, repeat your question instead of making a new thread.

OK, as one who finds deletion of posts really annoying I'll address that. It's off topic but you opened up the discussion of it here so I trust you will read it and not simply take issue with it on grounds of it being off topic.

To me the best analogy is it's like ripping pages out of a book. You destroy the continuity and completion of the discussion. It makes participating in any discussion you initiate and participate in pointless as one never knows if it will all suddenly be destroyed. I see it as selfish of you to wreck such havoc in a public forum. And it will lead to no one wanting to interact with you. In short you're doing yourself damage by such behaviour.

It is also nothing like posting off topic which seems to so irk you. Simply ignore the off topic posts and they'll generally go away and someone will put the discussion back on track. If you delete, rename, or otherwise neuter your thread those on topic posts you hoped for are killed before they have a chance. And starting another identical thread is not going to get more on topic posts. Those who already contributed are unlikely to waste energy restating their posts. And others are unlikely to contribute for the other reasons.

You might find you get more favorable responses with simple questions and appreciation of replies you like (and simply ignoring others) rather than snarky attitude and denigrating other forum users.

Sure, I get that you want your thread to stay on topic. And it annoys you when it doesn't. But this is a public forum and you have to accept a degree of difference of opinion on what is and is not off topic. Maybe some of what you see as off topic replies are not to other people here, and they are offered with genuinely good intentions and meant to forward your discussion. People wouldn't be posting in your threads if they didn't find something interesting in it in the first place.

You've even posted off topic yourself in threads on this forum. What's the harm in that? None. Life is too short for such slavish adherence to an unenforceable ideal as only directly on topic replies in a public forum.

And many times I have seen seemingly off topic posts inspire a new way of looking at the original topic that turns out to be a gem. Thinking outside the box and getting different points of view is a good reason for opening threads on a forum. If all you want is to have validation for your own narrow interpretation of something you'd be better off talking to a mirror.

I hope that helps, and it is genuinely offered as friendly advice and explanation of another point of view, one shared by a few here from what I've seen.

At least by me. And I would like to add that you may have started the
thread, but once others have posted in it, it is their thread and their dis-
cussion, too. Making their posts meaningless by removing the context
is a sure way to step on their toes.

I don't have a narrow interpretation, I just expect people to address the origional topic directly at some point.

Example: I ask a question on how a Suicide Drone might work in game terms and I get 4 pages of replies that do not answer any of the main topics I proposed.

DFW Constantly changes the topic of my threads. I PM'd him and asked him to please stay on topic or stop posting to my threads. He refused. Now I suspect he might be doing it intentionaly, or maybe he just can't help himself.

You point however has been well received and noted.
