Thoughts on future products for MGT

I want to see new sector books for the Traveller universe for areas that haven't been fully developed yet.

And an ship book with new Zhodani Vargr etc ships.

Could we also see the return of some of the Building Books that Seeker did for MegaTraveller? I have Research Facility. Always wanted to get my hands on Corporation Building. FASA years before did Hotel Complex. Having a whole slew of building deckplans are invaluable...like Emergency Shelter, Abandoned Mines, etc.

A good idea. While it is possible to find plans for the more "pedestrian"
types of buildings, I really would like to see plans for stuff like domed
habitats or underground bases on / in hollowed out asteroids, all those
facilities that are difficult to design by modifying plans of modern buil-
dings of today.

By no means wanting to rehash what another game company has done but perhaps an adventure-module about a derelict alien spacecraft to explore and perhaps defend from other 'human' scavengers ?

It would be nice seeing the venerable dungeon crawl executed in an intelligent and challenging Traveller adventure, not just a booty haul-body count exercise.

Also such might be a good platform to introduce 'alien' technology and lesser developed xeno concepts, the space hulk being of organic construction rather than 'traditional' metal and circuitry components.

On rpgnow.com IIRC there's some d20 plans for various buildings. That would make them in 28mm.

No, that would make them 1/60th scale, 1 inch = 5 feet, which BTW is almost exactly 1 inch = 1.5 meters........ Kinda neat...

How about a supplement that bridges the 'atypical' starships found plying about the Traveller universe with the rules and ordnance set forth in High Guard ?

I can see the need for a tome that might cover pirates and privateers, careers, skills as well as hardware to both vocations neatly compiled together.

I've never known a group of player characters to turn away from the chance to upgrade their ship's weapons and defenses to military grade gear. If nothing more than having an unexpected ace in the hole to bring out when facing dire situations where 'store bought' guns and ammunition won't do the job.

Said volume might also include characters in the grey area between true hero or villain shading and show how to establish similar-supporting NPCs and organizational networks for individuals whom operate in the shadows.

Hives of scum and villainy do offer opportunities and sometimes are a last chance option-last ditch resource to a player character's desperate flight or quest so do justify their existence in most any TU campaign.

Lastly this might be a good place-publication to include the black market and present rules-information about establishing-operating such.

If Mongoose were clever, they would develop and properly beta test a starship/vehicle/equipment design system (a la FF&S), but keep it in-house, and then use it to generate a host of starships/vehicles/equipment....and then release supplements containing those pre-designed vehicles/equipment first...<snip>..

After that, release the design sequences as a separate product.....for the gearheads and those who want to design their own stuff.

Result=consistency across product line. Starships, vehicles, guns, etc that match the design sequences (rather than tons of errata or handwaving to make stuff 'thought up' in early products match the eventual design sequences).

Umm, that is exactly* what we are doing :)

Civilian Vehicles said:
Please note that some of the civilian vehicles listed in the Traveller Core Rulebook have been included here, but using the new design rules there are some minor differences between them. You can of course still use the original vehicles but we recommend that you use the versions listed here if you want full compatibility with this and future books.

:(

I do agree that the Artillery weapons in Mercenary need redone, many of them do seem to have absurdly short ranges for starters, at least for the TL.

I muchly agree. The damage also is a bit low for my tastes.

Anyway, to maybe be a bit more on topic for the thread title, I'd like to see a MGT version of "Citizens of the Imperium" personally. Sure, we have plenty of civilian careers in the core book, but many are "condensed" where one MGT civilian career might cover three "careers" that one might see in CT. Give an example, the MGT Drifter. I think having a suppliment that goes into more detail for each career class, with Barbarian, the "Wanderer" Drifter and Scavenger/Belter done as three seperate classes would be great. Same with rogue, at least maybe have two from that, the actual rogue and pirate done as two seperate careers in such a book. Scholar could be split into "Scientist" and "Physician" maybe, Noble could be split into three careers and so forth. Anyway, one where many, most or all of the civilian careers like split like that would be good. Giving each a 2d6 mishap table and d66 event table like what's done in Mercenary and I assume the upcoming High Guard IMO would be good also. The rest of the book could go into explaining what sort(s) of things are involved with each career in said book into a bit more detail. For instance, is the MGT concept of the barbarian anyone from let's say a TL 4 or less world? Or do they have to be truly barbaric and low tech also?

Anyway, any thoughts on that? Agree, disagree?

Agree, in short. I'd have the Barbarian career be anyone who is from a TL-3 or less world, though.

Good call on the Scholar career, though I'd have an Instructor career in there - not only college-level professors, but elementary, middle and high-school teachers, and Librarians to boot.

Mind, Merchants absolutely bloody NEED their own book.

I would also redo the Psionic Drifter career from Psion - have "Wanderer," "Outcast" and " ... Er, Failure." (By which I mean "Crazy.") The 'Goose did right in having Psionic Drifters, but they can't just copy and paste from the core book for it.
