Third Imperium Maps

I've got Spinward Marches and it provides these maps:-
* An imperial map - SM56
* A map of the Spinward Marches sector - SM122
* Maps of the 16 sub-sectors in the Spinward Marches

I've also got Reft Sector. It has numerous sub-sector maps but no overview, such as the one found on SM122.

I'm having difficulty tying Reft sector with Spinward Marches. Are they intended to be compatible? If so, how do you get from Spinward Marches to Reft sector?

And where on SM56 is "the claw"?

The Reft Sector is one sector trailing and one sector rimward of the Spinward Marches.

Looking at p56 you see the Great Rift on the map. That is an area of space that has very few star systems, usually on the order of one or two systems per subsector (or about 10-20 per sector). Parts of this Great Rift extend through the Reft Sector and the Corridor Sector in a curved fashion (resembling an animal "claw") seperating the Spinward Marches from the Imperial Capital by a direct route, one has to travel through Corridor Sector to reach the Capital of the Imperium.

Yeah, see, this is why I think an overview map of Reft in the Reft Sector book would have been nice. Its confusing otherwise to folks who dont already know (like us grognards).

"The Claw" will not be on the Spinward Marches map as the Marches are "behind the claw". The "Claw" is the rift... which is where Reft Sector is. When you look at the empty hexes in the Reft Sector maps, you are looking at "The Claw".

The Reft Sector is diagonal to the Spinward Marches. The top left hand corner of the Vestus subsector in The Reft meets the bottom right hand corner of the Trin's Veil subsector in the Marches.
