Thiiiis might be a crazy idea but.................

SisterSoul

Mongoose
Although I'm sure it would be a bit hard to swallow for those of us who purchased to book but what if Mongoose put up the book for free to bring people back / into BF:evo to / when things get rolling again :?: :?: :?:
Just a thought :D

Not really fair to those who have bought it already tho.

Positive PR might be undone by those of us hacked off because we ACTUALLY supported the company by buying it.

Seems a bit like punishing the believers to me.

Just my 2c...

When is it planning to be re released . . . next neveruary!!!

ROFL!! Yeah middle of that month....

It'll happen but i think Mongoose are gonna loose out on my X-mas games budget as i can't see them getting anything out for sale until Q1 2008. Be nice when the NDA disappears and we can have some info

Yeah, like a pdf

127th Angry Angel "Not really fair to those who have bought it already tho."

Oh, I agree 100%-a-rooney........ but if it would help the game spread around [ who doesn't like free stuff ] and bring in more cash for the released minis for the eventual minis it might be a good thing. ???

Don’t start me on MGP and fair, im more annoyed that I invested $250 AUD and god only knows how much time into a game that got pulled with little or no warning. And I can bet that the current book will be out of date for B:evo mk 2 (or what ever its going to be called)

A free PDF of the rules so I can help promote the game would be freaking awesome to boost the morale of the local evo players (at least where im from)

Or better yet, information OR miniatures. At least I know how the SST people feel now.

We could certainly make a new game 100% compatible with the current rulebook, release new forces as PDFs, and so on. We would be very happy to do that. However, this raises a question.

If this were the case, we would have the chance to tweak certain rules - the way the command structure works when a squad leader is lost, for example, interaction of air vs. ground, and so on.

Should we make a rulebook that current players of BF Evo do not need in order to a) keep on playing (which, of course, they already have) and b) to play with new units, or should we do everything we can to make the game the best we can, based on feedback we have received over the past year?

We have always said, we will tell you all what we can, when we can - if nothing else, we have always been very upfront about what happens behind the scenes at Mongoose, even if that news has been less than beneficial. We could do things differently. We could keep quiet. In the past, we have chosen to be as open as we can be.

Now, with BF Evo, we have been NDA'd up to the eyeballs. This has affected SST as well, because up to now, we have linked the two games - what happens to one will happen to the other. We are currently looking at breaking SST away from this bond, for various reasons, but that is another subject.

For BF Evo, the outside company we have been talking to has been very enthusiastic about working with us, and we have received a great deal of support from both their licensing people, and the main developers of their. . . products. However, things slowed down once lawyers from. . . another organisation. . . started with their list of needs and demands.

We _are_ working to a deadline with this, as we want to release alongside. . . another product. . . next year. We informed the outside company that we needed everything laid out and ready to move forward last Friday if we were to hit this deadline. On Friday, we were asked to move this forward to Monday, and we agreed.

If all the ducks are not in line by then, all is not lost - the outside company has several different. . . products. . . that are all closely linked and all fit into the BF Evo mould extremely well. Our talks with the outside company started along the lines of supporting them all anyway, linking them together within a single rules system (BF Evo) so players could mix and match as they saw fit. A lot of these products will be released next year anyway, so it would only delay things by perhaps 2-3 months.

On the other hand, if the green light is given on Monday, and all interested parties are happy with the way things look, then hold on to your hats. All your current BF Evo miniatures will be fully compatible, giving you a headstart on the game. Added to that, you will have a range of truly fantastic games and new miniatures, all cross-compatible with one another. I know you have all been waiting a long time, and I do apologise for that - but once you see what we are trying to do and why, I think 95% of BF Evo players will agree that, however irritating the delays have been, it was, in the end, the right decision.

At least, I sincerely hope they will think that :) Speaking as a gamer, I think they will.

If nothing else, I will try to see if I can let you all know what is happening on Monday/Tuesday, who we are working with, and what we are planning together. This will rest solely on the NDA we are currently working under, but I will make a specific request to let our customers know what is going on. Can't make any promises - their sandpit, their rules - but we'll see what we can do.

I've heard this before regarding the B5 RPG 2nd edition, and the promised compatibility of our existing supplements has failed to occur.

Those of usthat entered the Mongoose singles BF:Evo tournament had to buy the Advanced rulebook for that tournament. If that rulebook ends up being rendered obsolete I'll be a bit miffed.

You should definitely release the game to be as good as you can possibly make it.

Well, you could make any new book FREE ! :P

Or what about putting up any changed parts of the rulebook for those with the book already ?

I like the spirit of SisterSoul's comment, surely there is a comprimise that helps the game and causes minimal miffage.

Very exciting Matt! I think all of us would be happy to see Battlefiled Evolution rolling again! Just to see that there is a future with the game will make everyone breath easier.

Hi guys,

Just to let you know that, as of close of business today, there is still no word from the lawyers of the 'other' organisation and, I am afraid, we are still unable to reveal exactly what is going on and who we are talking to.

Keep your fingers crossed, we are hoping to get past this very soon.

Well, we could wait out the time telling lawyer jokes.
What do you call fifty lawyers on the bottom of the sea?

A good start.

An excerpt from a deposition: A lawyer cross examining a Medical Examiner.

Atty: So Doctor you were able to determine that the subject, Mr. Smith was in fact deceased.

Dr: Yes.

Atty: How did you come to that determination Doctor?

Dr: The subject had, at that time, no pulse, was apneic, and rigor and liver mortise had set in.

Atty: So you were absolutely sure he was, in fact, deceased?

Dr: Yes, without a doubt.

Atty: How?

Dr: Excuse me?

Atty: How were you sure?

Dr: Well the subjects brain was in a jar on my desk, but now that you mention it, he could have been out practicing Law...

What do you call a coach of lawyers that falls into the ocean from a 1000 foot cliff, with one seat empty on the coach?

A wasted opportunity

I wonder what Matt will think of us?

BTW, thank you loads Matt for attempting to keep us informed of the status of things. :D :D

Hrm...Matt mentioned in another post something about running things by Sony for SST...SST and BF:Evo's futures are interlinked, but now Mongoose wants to find a way to change that...another company's lawyers are delaying the process...

Sounds to me like Sony is the other company that's causing the hold up right now. What do y'all think?
