They get to walk...

How come the truck listed on page 136 of the US Vehicles list has room for only 10 size points of models, when there are 12 men in a squad? The halftrack on page 135 has room for 12.

Sorry if it has been covered but did not see it in the Player's Guide.

As a side note, the mechanized squads are in groups of ten and so could use the truck, which they actually get as an option for the squad.

Using a truck for a regular infantry squad or a paratrooper squad, break off the second fire-team and buy a jeep for them to ride in. :) Otherwise, if you want GIs in trucks, go mechanized.

As usual Rabidchild sums it up real good! :D

Well, if we're going to be accurate, it's not mechanized infantry but motorized infantry. Mechanized infantry are those poor blighters riding in half tracks. ;)

Well if we're going to be accurate, I guess we can only give those poor blighters the halftracks because they're listed as "Armoured Infantry". :)

So what do we accurately call regular infantry that hitch a ride in a passing truck, or a Mechanized force that's lost some halftracks and now has a few trucks mixed in? :D

Kevin?

:)

There is an example of an armored infantry company (The 6th IIRC) that lost its halftracks in Tunisia. They were issued 2.5 ton trucks for the remainder of the war I think.

*shrug* I don't think WaW is overly concerned with exact historical references is it? I mean, I would hate to see special rules popping up for every single company that did something interesting. That would be a book unto itself full of rules exceptions. (ie, an army codex)

Ah, Graywinter, I was just giving Hiro a hard time. I think the list lets you create any reasonable force, including the company in Tunisia you bring up.

 Funny thing about text - it lacks the inflection. I thought you were being serious!

I really hope WaW stays clear of the Codex Race where each list has to outdo the previous ones. I prefer rules simple and flexible - and the way WaW is so intuitive would be a shame to muddy with a bunch of exceptions to the rules.

Custom lists using the existing rules would be nice though, as would a collection of vehicles with an official "stamp" of approval. Just - no changes to the core rules, and nothing that negates another army's strength.

No worries Mr. Winter. :) And I agree with you about the rules, exceptions and power creep. When Mongoose solidifies their Open Game License policy, look for some interesting things on the horizon.
