Theory of Interstellar Trade

Mongoose
Found this old paper from 1978 http://www.princeton.edu/~pkrugman/interstellar.pdf it discusses the problem of trade in a FTL environment.

"A solution is derived from economic theory, and two useless but true theorems are derived."

"The remainder of this paper is, will be, or has been, depending on the reader's inertial frame, divided into three sections."

"It should be noted that, while the subject of this paper is silly, the analysis does actually make sense. This paper, then, is a serious analysis of a ridiculous subject, which is of course the opposite of what is usual in economics."

"I will assume then, that future futures markets are, well, futuristic in their development."

Figure II is sheer genius.

"This extension is left as an exercise for interested readers because the author does not understand the theory of general relativity, and therefore cannot do it himself."

This is pure comedy gold!

The big flaw in fig.2 is NO HEXES ! gasp!

Earth Trantor and E.T. ?

mistaking the finger pointing for the moon?

So what it really means is don't hand over the goods till you get the money?
Or does it mean never mind the quality feel the width?

Good one OtherNiceMan love it....

Hmm bummer of a typo at the reference page... Gives himself as a reference dated from 1987 (rather than 1978).

Had almost forgotten what a type writer font looked like.

Take care

Read the paper again, it's not a typo - he's referencing a paper he hasn't written yet ;).
