The Spider God's Bride

Mongoose
I may be asking this a little early, but the product is listed as a December release, and I do like to ponder my Christmas purchases well in advance :D ...

I'd like to ask about the Spider God's Bride book for Legend.

It's clear that it's a Legend adaptation of the d20 product sold by Xoth.net Publishing.
That book's main selling point is ten stand-alone adventures in Sword-and-Sorcery style.
There are also some kind of rule tweaks to give d20 a more Sword-and-Sorcery feel, such as new classes, new magic rules, cultural backgrounds for PCs and other stuff that I don't know because I don't actually own a copy.
As far as I can tell it has gotten some pretty good reviews.

So my question is, what can we expect to find in the Legend version?
The same ten adventures?
Also rules tweaks and character options for Legend to give it a more S&S feel?

Does anybody know?

I love the S&S genre and this item could potentially be very good.

If you don't get any satisfaction here Rangerdan you might try the boards at xoth.net, Thulsa's ("The Spider God's Bride" author) site, and ask the man himself. From memory he has said the maps get a professional make-over in Legend which sounds encouraging. The d20 version didn't include them (and some of them are pretty rough), but they are available as a free download from xoth.net. So too a sizable sample of the book.

But it's a professional makeover by the Mongoose Cartographers - based on past experience I wouldn't get my hopes up...

I know what you mean, but I think many of The Spider God's Bride maps are hand-drawn and look it. Hopefully this is just a matter of tarting them up and they will remain faithful to Thulsa's originals.

I hope the Xoth setting continues to have product in Legend format. The orginal was in "normal" d20, with Conan d20 conversion notes, and another release was for Pathfinder. Granted these 3 are pretty similar, but that still makes 4 rules sets in total.

Well, now it's almost one year in the making if I am not mistaken. Are there ANY news? Will it still be published? I am still really anxious about this one, you know.

Well, according to Matt, it should be out soon. There's an earlier post on it.

Apparently there have been problems with a number of writers falling by the wayside. I'm a bit confused by that as I own the D20 version. Surely it only needed a stats job done to convert it to the Legend.

Is there additional material included?

I too thought it was only going to be a straight conversion to Legend rules, with a re-jigging of the maps.

SGB seems always to be due out "soon". Four writers or not, it's taking quite a while. The chatter on Thulsa's site is saying "around GenCon", which is another couple of weeks away, but still technically "soon".

Matt has mentioned GenCon in another thread, which is encouraging, or "not long after that", which is slightly less encouraging but not strictly discouraging. He may have been referring to a print rather version than a pdf (which perhaps suggests a pdf might be out sooner), and while I have no real evidence to support this I choose to be encouraged.

From Eye on Mongoose:

Going to print today (and will be present at Gen Con); Solomani Rim, Deneb Sector, The Iron Comnpanion, Secrets of the Steppes and... Stornlands!

Speaking of books long-awaited, Tales of the Spider God's Bride is now in my hands, fully revised, and will just need a quick check before it goes to layout and print.

Woot! That's awesome news! That's one adventure that I am truly looking forward to - the d20 version was excellent, and I'm hoping that the Legend version will be even better. The game system certainly fits the genre better.

Fingers crossed that I was able to do it justice then :)

Edit: I did the last leg of the conversion work, because hey, I am crazy like that and love being thrown in at the deep end!

If you have Spider God's Bride and Iron Companion dead-tree versions ready to ship at the same time I promise I'll save you 1x shipping :)
