The Rim

Shadow Queen

Mongoose
I see its back to June....... Any chance of getting the book this year Matt??

I payed good hard money for this book and its getting beyond a joke

Is that just for Shadow Queen or for everybody who pre-ordered the book months ago. Cause I ordered it a while and I think it would be very good to get it soon rather than later.

Well, I was going to make the announcement next week, but. . .

For everyone who has shown patience and kept the faith with us, we are devoting a day next week to printing books that have been on preorder. I'll put a list together of which books this involves but, in a nutshell, if you have been waiting more than a month for a book, you'll be getting it within the next couple of weeks, depending where in the world you are.

We'll also be tucking in a little extra prezzy for your patience ;)

Sweet...I've got most of the B5 books on preorder and I'm running an IPX-focused game. I can't wait. That's a better apology than most companies would be willing to offer. Thanks, Mongoose.

I'm just excited to see everyone so worked up about getting my work. :)

Makes for a great start to an otherwise chore-filled day.

Cheers all,
Bry

Hmmm, need to bring more money to the tournament to get all the printed stuff.

for people who have it on PER ORDER since FEB

I'm sure Matt will print off a few extras, given he knows I'm coming, he'd be somewhat remiss in terms of missing a sales opportunity if he didn't

Remember, just as in an external printers, there's an economy of scale to be considered. True when it's their own printer, Mongoose can ignore that if they want, but it's still there. Given they;ll need them anyway, might as well print off 20 as 10 while the binder and whatnot are set up to the right sizes.

Actually, there isn't :)

With our system (and ignoring any admin strife), economically speaking, there is little difference in us printing 1,000 of one book, or one each of 1,000 books. . .

Sorry Matt, I didn't explain myself properly, while their is no (or little) fiscal economy of scale now that you do it inhouse, cost of materials being by and large proportional. What I meant is that surely there must be some time economies what with setting up the machines for diffgerent book sizes, papers, finishes, etc. Once you've set the machine up it's all the same, but it must be quicker, surely, to do 1 batch of 20 of a book, than 2 batches of 10 whilst printing something else off inbetween.

If it isn't, then is there any chance we'll see Armageddon 2089 resurrected

Awesome, very awesome. I've waited this long for my copy of the Rim I can wait a little while longer.

And, as I said in my various emails to the company, the only reason I am not getting angry or pissed off is because of the great responses I have previously had with the company. They have a history of making sure books come in on time, not damaged, and with a great and interesting story. Because of all the above factors I have no problem waiting a little while.

I like Mongoose Publishing, I respect Mongoose and will have patience. Without sounding ominous, this patience and good will will remain until something really bad happens*.

So, like I said above, awesome. Nice job Mongoose.

As a note, this just makes me wish I had bought the IPX book when I bought the dozen or so books before. Ah, well, fiscal restraints cause problems sometimes. :)

*I do not consider this situation of books being delayed to be a problem that will gnaw at me and make me loose my liking of Mongoose.

Mine turned up this week as well (along with Freedom Station) :D
Apart from a bit of a binding problem both are very good books.

I am not at all sure about some of the galactic geography in the Rim but there is some very good stuff in there and more than enough to inspire a campaign or two in the most inhospitable corner of the B5 universe.

The only downside was no news on the "Leap of Faith" pdf / cd / book
