So I have been tasked to paint an EA Crusade era fleet with a colour scheme heavily based off of German WWII warships mixed in with some US and British styles as well.

The following images have been used for inspiration and guidance...

The test figure came off the production line:

changes made after painting this miniature:

Reduce the camouflage to 3 colours (red, black and grey).
make the shapes that form the pattern bigger and simpler.

On the list to paint are the following ships...

Warlock
4 Apollo
2 Marathon
2 Delphi
4 Chronos

Which one? I use my brush at the recommendation of a painter such as yourself, and it's really improved my ability, though I do better on WarMachine models. It's a Winston and something or another, Series 7, size 2.

Winsor and Newton Series 7 - size: 00

Series 7 really is the best range of brushes out there.

That certainly does make the EA ships look alot more interesting. I'm personally thinking about redoing my EA fleets and adding some aditional details (antenas, ship markings and what not). The best I've been able to do is paint the name plates on the Omegas.

Superb. Utterly superb.
All the more so as most of that's just freehand on a flat surface.

I can't even manage highlighting along physical edges without it making a mess and you've got bloody edged highlighting on the dazzle camo!

I'm going to go and cry now.

utterly superb, I tried to do that a while back on a Chronos, but mine looked dismal! But then I am clearly not a painting genius like CJ!

The fourth Chronos is going to be stripped before being re-painted in the re-worked scheme.

Talk about an impressive looking little fleet! While I love traditional colors, I love seeing a well done departure from them as well.

I was pondering it, as My Narn are ready to undergo a painting upgrade, but based upon how dismal my attempts to do a chronos in that style were, I may give it a miss!!!

... I personally don't like the red... but otherwise it looks cool! I think I might do some dazzel work on my Crusade era ships.

For the Delphi Scout I realised the camo scheme would tranfer straight across...
