I just now stumbled across a link to a BBC article on accents in fantasy fiction:-

It asks the question of why fantasy settings proliferate with British accents.

I think they have it wrong. We Brits have been speaking with Narnian, Westeros, Tsolyani, Earthsea, Gloranthan and Middle Earth accents all along ...

I never realized this, in the German versions the actors all sound
like citizens of Hanover ... :wink:
