The Expanse and TLs

I think the series The Expanse fits nicely into Traveller. What do you think would be the TL of:

- Earth?
- Mars?
- Ceres/the Belt?

I thought they didn't have artificial gravity, so maybe TL8 with early TL9 prototypes (The Epstein drive could be considered a prototype M-Drive, thus no artificial gravity, just the thrust)

All good ideas I never thought of. Can I use them and give friends of mine your answers as long as I quote your online name?

Also, The Expanse might fit better with the Traveller 2300 rules without the Stutterwarp. There is a lot of good stuff in there about alternate ways to generate gravity from the magic of the Maneuver Drive but still have some of the higher tech stuff that Traveller has.

I'd give Mars TL A (terraforming program and all the Earther worries about secret, extremely advanced Martian weapons programs) and Earth and the OPA TL 9. The Belt to me would be TL8 as they are caught in the middle, needing both factions to actually grow and advance. Obviously no Jump, no gravitic/inertial compensation and no energy weapons.

Ever since MegaTraveller there's canonical justification for worlds to have tech advances in some areas and lags in others, if canon matters to you. Meaning you can have TL 9 - A items in a non-jump Trav universe.

I think the tech disparity is important in the Expanse, it helps define the three major cultures (Earth, Mars, OPA/Belt).

Railgun Barbette:
Though the rounds a railgun uses are low technology
armor penetrators, the weapon itself uses electromagnetic
forces to accelerate them to sizable fractions of the
speed of light, delivering a high dose of kinetic energy
to the target. Railgun turrets contain enough ammunition
for 5 attacks each. Railgun barbettes contain enough
ammunition for 10 attacks each.

Weapon TL Range Power Damage Cost Traits
Railgun Turret 9 Short 5 1D MCr 2 Auto 3
Railgun Barbette 9 Short 6 2D MCr 4 Auto 3

Mass Driver Ammunition:
Tons Per Attack 0.10
Cost Per Attack Cr2000

Note:
Railgun Turrets and Barbettes use the same ammunition type.
The difference in damage is due to the velocity of the projectiles.
