The Coffee Maker

And Hell is where they brew perfect coffee all day and only allow you to faintly smell it from a distance, knowing you could have some if only you could just find it. A version of Tantalus, yes, but even Hell has its upgrades.

WARNING: dTons of Creamer is ridiculous expensive. Just don't expect to get rid of it easily, as most worlds will reject the heathen practice of diluting their coffee.
Alcohol does not dilute coffee, it merely enhances it.

Naw, you keep around as a field expedience explosive precursor....

Indications that civilisation as we know it is coming to an end:

Guiness can be consumed cold

Pils can be consumed without something alcoholic to go with it

Heathens, the lot of ye!

You can drink tea without milk? Yeah sure. Next you tell me:

Fish can be eaten without chips, rock-salt and vinegar

Guiness can be consumed cold

Pils can be consumed without something alcoholic to go with it
I nearly did a spittake there... I'm fairly sure that you should be drinking Guinness cold anyways.
Fecking Brits, of course you ruin something the Irish love.

Excuse me for a few hours, I think that two different sides of my heritage are about to come to blows.

I've been told that artificial sweeteners are Bad For You. So I'm now having a spoonful of honey with my tea or (decaf) coffee instead.

Hmmm sould be a good base for a fuel air explosive :D

Nha, FAE uses a different method IIRC.

Remember anything flammable is explosive when dispersed in air, even plain old dust. Inside a starship with the gravity off is a set of ideal conditions. But my referance is to another method of using non-dairy creamer and other common items to make improvised borderline high explosive.

Very true, but there is a big difference - sort of like the difference between 'bang' and 'BOOM!' - just sayin'.

Yeah but both will get a starship crew's attention. Especially when it's heard while in jumpspace.

Yes but a gentle boom is much more frightening when they open the hatch to find out what is was and find the corridor full of some sort of frothy white foam that may be glowing under a little known side effect of jump drives to make organic based coffee whiteners fluoresce

Oh, I doubt they'll need to open that hatch - unless it's a solid, bulkhead hatch it will be open already, probably bent a bit as well!! Imagine that every bit of creamer and air in that room suddenly needs to occupy twice the volume!

But does the Imperium use Motie coffee pots? :D

This is why I love Traveller and we old-timers that play it.

By the way, develop a Traveller Codominium/Empire (Niven/Pournelle) sourcebook and a Space Viking (Piper) sourcebook and I will die a happy man.

PS....I like the newbies too.

Not an old timer here (I'm only 29!), I just grew up reading science-fiction from Asimov, Clarke, Niven, and Heinlein. Only recently read Space Viking, and it was really good.
