The Campaign Finally Begins...

Court Jester

Mongoose
I spent some time today finally getting the campaign website up and running with all the relevant info...

Please take a look around >>> LINK

I am no web designer so the site is very basic in terms of weblayout. In fact I think it is practically archaic and very messy behind the scenes...

I think maybe using a frame for the centre image would have been the route to take but then I would have had to learn how to use frames... and that seemed too much like hard work...

Any how...

Because our campaign turns will be lasting a long time with players only meeting to get games in once every 2 weeks we have introduced a new type of battle. As well as fighting over strategic targets players can fight fueds. These are generally smaller games using a few select attack/defense secnarios. The basics are:

  • Fued games cannot be a higher level than Raid
  • You can only play each opponent once per turn
  • Winning a fued game earns you 5RR
  • Scenarios are generated on a new scenario table (not designed yet...)
  • Generate a reason for the fued on the fued table (not designed yet...)

The fued table will hopefully be a nice long list of reasons you are fighting to help give some narrative to the otherwise random game.

As you can see from the pages detailing the Strategic targets on the website there is very basic story unfolding... Involving worker uprisings and mysterious ruins...

I will be adding the fleet lists to the site in the next few days... as it is I think we can manage for now...

Every player can play against each opponent once a turn? Just how many games/battles might that be? [assuming there are 6 players for example, will that equate each player having 5 battles each turn??? Quite alot if you ask me]

Would it not be easier if you limit the number of games/battles per turn to:

> Each player can make one Attack and can only be Attacked once per turn. Thus, all player can have up to 2 battles to game out each turn/meeting.

A mere suggestion that will not burn players out from a plethora of games to be played in a given turn.

stop being so tripple damned modest Jester 'I'm not much of a web designer' my arse ;)

The site looks great and it all works so when said and done it really doesnt matter how it looks 'behind the scenes' :P

The site looks really good! Apparently it uses campaign rules from the rulebook? (still waiting for mine)

Frames would help making changes to the site (uniform menus and looks etc on only one page) but otherwise they generally suck ;) So don't worry about that. If you want to learn to use imagemaps (see http://www.maschek.hu/imagemap/imgmap for example), making actual planets to links would be a good way to go, but I'll have to say the links above DO give a good look to the site!

I very much doubt that anyone will play that many games... bearing in mind this is just there to let people play games instead of sit around twiddling their thumbs...

And if a Player does want to fight 5 games... then they would be a fool to do so...
