The Absolutely Most Useless Divine Spell

Has to be Cloud Walk. I mean, what's the point? OK, borrow Orlanth's Flight but there's bugger all to do when you're up there. Why does Heler give this to his worshippers? He's about rain and clouds to be sure, but why let them walk on it?

Also Smashing Downpour - is that in the sense of Spiffing Precipitation?

And you'd better watch how long you spend gamboling around or it'll run out on you, leaving you a bit stuck.

Don't forget that clouds can move as well, so you may end up somewhere you didn't expect.

Absolutely - there you are enjoying a bit o' sky-surfin when a fellow cultist on the ground casts Smashing Downpour from your cloud or some idiot casts Cloud Clear and you're taking a terminal quantity of falling damage.

I think it's a fun and colorful spell that fits the cult well. Some (or all?) clouds are intelligent spirits, so it could give you a mount? Or if you're up in the mountains, easy to cross from peak to peak on a cloudy day.

If a PC took this spell and I were GM, I'd do my best to find ways of making it useful to them once in a while. That's what storytelling is about, to me.

Remember "Monkey Magic" and flying on a cloud? Not as good as a sylph, but better than walking.

Like the PC who used the other worst spell "Flowers" to gift a giant with a bunch of flowers and getting past a doorway.

There are always ways of making spells useful in odd ways.

And the Wind Warp spell - the one that changes wind direction - seems to have been removed from the original ms as well. Besides, the other Heler spells such as seduction and command sheep didn't make it into the manuscript. Yes, please insert various Heler-esque sheep jokes here. You're supposed to... I like Heler but he is supposed to make at least some folks uncomfortable.

Fortunately, Heler' runelords can change gender for a day if they wish to spend a HP.

Well I was going to say aren't they different names for the same spell in Orlanthi culture? :)

Joking aside, I love the Heler cult, Heler cultists (Heleri?) do look like one of the more interesting and certainly fun bunch to play.
