Over at RPG.net I was bitching about my Cthulhutech(and to a lesser degree my Runequest Deluxe....but mostly Cthulhutech) due to them arriving in horrible shape at my FLGS.

Anyways Matt PMed me and sent me replacements for both. I'd like to state that both are in great condition. In fact until I saw the new Runequest book I didn't realize in how bad of shape my copy was in. The replacement copy is literally perfect. No warping. No text riding against the binding. No bubbles. I can open the book comfortably and read everything and not worry about damaging the spine.

If future products match the mechanical aspects of my replacement Runequest book(well plus better editing, I see major improvement over the days of my first Mongoose books such as ACTA 1st Edition and the Babylon 5 1st Edition RPG although not quite up to the standard I feel a company as large as Mongoose needs to be, so I hope the quality there keeps improving as well) and the sheer greatness of the game design for Cthulhutech I have high hopes for future Mongoose products.

While I still wish they had been this way in the first run rather than Mongoose having to replace them, I can say that dealing with Mongoose where problems are concerned has always been among the best of any company I know.

So thank you Mongoose in general and thank you Matt in specific.

Unfortunately, I wish I had your luck. Every since B:Evol came out, every book I've gotten from Mongoose except the B5:Call to Arms fleet book has been damaged in some way. My Call to Arms book is the most severe, being completely unusable because the pages are so warped I can't open the book without causing more damage.

I picked up Cthulhutech because I was really interested in the system, and only the cover was warped. The inside of the book is in good condition, and out of the 4 copies that the LGS was able to get, this was the one that was the least warped. So, overall I'm not worried about that one.

The CTA book however is the problem. I've been bouncing emails back and forth since mid-October with Mongoose, and still haven't gotten a replacement or heard of it shipping. Nothing except emails telling me it will ship next week. Well, that was 4 weeks ago.....

The owner of the LGS is ticked because he can't get a quality book from Mongoose to sell and he's tired of stocking books that are damaged.

Like I said, I picked up Cthulhutech because I was really interested in the system, but honestly, I haven't picked up much else because of the quality of the books. I'd be interested in Conan 2nd Ed., or the new expansion to Victory at Sea, but the store hasn't gotten a non-damaged copy of either of these in yet.

Well, here's to hoping that todays email will get better results.
