Technology Marches Forward - M-Drive

You might be able to make a starship out of this. One of the limiting things about starships it the fact that they must accelerate their propellant before they can use it, if we can eliminate propellant, we also eliminate one of the barriers to going close to the speed of light, we could reach Alpha Centauri within a human lifetime.

It's an interesting concept that's been doing the rounds for a while. There has been a fair bit of skepticism in the physics community about whether the concept is feasible, but this experiment does seem to confirm some of the (controversial) findings of the earlier Chinese research team. It's still a long way from being settled though - the experiment would need to be repeated several times by different groups to gain wider acceptance. But further investigation may be easier to justify now.

Well, not quite, but close ...:-

"Impossible" Drive

Nice find! Several teams have now tested and found it to actually work. I was hoping that would be the case.
If they can get a working drive out of it, enough to put in a probe, it'd do more than just give us a cool new drive. It'd open up a whole new chapter in the physics book.

No kidding! It already has but many "scientists" are stuck in authoritarian mode rather than science mode and are still in shock. Same thing happened in the late 80's with extragalactic GRB's. Some "scientists" went into almost uncontrollable tirades over those and tried to destroy the scientist who reported the findings.

I'm hoping that this one will go through and lead to another new era in space exploration. Also, can you smell all that new science waiting to be done? :D

Oh yes. Amazing what areas of research this may open up.
