Swords against Sorcery

Yeah, more Lankhmar stuff would be good.

But let me add a thing: CRUNCHIER Lankhmar would be great.

That Aaron guy who wrote the Lankhmar books is quite a decent writer and got the atmosphere quite right. But he had a very restrictive view of being faithful to Leiber's stories and a very low crunch approach.

The Lankhmar line really needs to take the same approach taken for Elric and Hawkmoon:

1- MAKE THEM UP! Take every cool hint found in the source material and run with it making up cool stuff consistent with the mood of the story.
The stories hint at many things that are not described: Earth magic of the Kleshite priests? Frost rituals of the northern women? Necromancies from Quarmall? Deep rituals of the Symorgians? Black ice magic of Kakht? The aerial elemental realm of princess Frix? MAKE THEM UP!

2- STAT 'EM UP! I mean all those NPCs from the stories!!! And also generic NPC types: thieves, priests, beggars, nobles, whores, merchants, thugs and assassin, northerners, land Mingols horsemen, sea Mingol pirates, etc.

I agree. The current books are nicely written, capture the flavour but are quite conservative. Although this does allow lots of room for GM creation.

I may start tunning a game in Aug/Sept - subject to commitments and demand - but if I do maybe I'll get a chance to post stats or something.

I liked the old Elric! standards for various villains and commoners, very useful to a GM in a hurry.

I'd love one big mega world of Swords and Sorcery - combining the continents on which Conan, Thieves World and Newhon are based, all converted to MRQ or BRP.

I couldn't agree more - while I like the current books I am sorely disappointed that the above approach wasn't taken :(
