Strike Rank/Errata

I noticed in the errata that Strike Rank should be calculated as the average of SIZ + DEX, rather than SIZ + DEX + INT.

I sort of like the idea of including INT in the Strike Rank calculation as representing "thinking on your feet." Is there a problem with using the original method (i.e. [SIZ + DEX + INT]/3)?

Of those three attributes I would have eliminated SIZ and just made it DEX+INT/2 as that makes more sense to me than getting rid of INT as a factor in determining Strike Rank.

If anything I would think a big SIZ would decrease speed rather than potentially increase it. I understand the idea of SIZ relating to reach and all that, but still don't think it should be a determining factor for Strike Rank. YMMV.

You are misreading the errata. Strike Rank should be calculated as the average of INT and DEX.

The actual question whether there is a problem with the printed text compared to the errata remains unaswered...

On the note, I also do like it as it is. SIZ does matter. So why triplet thingy has been errated in the first place?

For the animals with fixed INT it's wise to calculate as the errat suggests: (SIZ+DEX+INT*2)/3

The main reason we had changed it was that SIZ is fine in melee combat, but has no relevance when it comes to ranged combat or spell casting.

There were other reasons, such as colossal sized creatures would always act quicker (when the opposite is generally true), and that dividing by three was considered too complex for maths challenged players. But the main one was the relevance of SIZ outside of HtH.
