Storing Items

I recently started Lone Wolf with Book 1 (German edition).
I have read in some threads here and in other forums that it is possible to store items and retrieve them later. How exactly is that possible? I'd like to know all the details and if it is official.

I think you can let items, weapons and coins where LW is at the end of most of his adventures. Even if I think that's proposed in later books only (but maybe that's different in Mongoose edition? I don't have any here to check).
The only risk being that LW doesn't come back to where he was at the beginning of the book. I don't want to spoil, but it occurs sometimes.

Nevertheless, as LW2 starts very quickly after the ending of LW1, I'm not sure you can do this between these 2 adventures. But I don't think you can have too many objects at this moment?

Yes, I have the new edition which is a translation of the Mongoose edition.
I know that it is not necessary or does not make sense to store items between book 1 and 2, but later on it is. There is this thing with the Sommerswerd. At one point you have to put it away to defeat an opponent with another weapon, and then it would be lost if you couldn't store it.

Sorry but I don't see when you have to use another weapon instead of the Sommerswed (if you possess it, of course).
I don't want to spoil, but in some later books you need to hide it, but you still carry it.
There's too a book in which you can lose the Sommerswed, but you can recover it afterwards.

Books 3-5 are strung out over an indeterminate time, so it's possible to leave stuff with the King and pick it up again before any book up to the start of 6, from then on your on your "Big Quest" till the end of book 12 with few chances to leave stuff for safe keeping (but a few chances to ship stuff home), but from book 13 onwards their is generally a chance for Lone Wolf (or your New Kai Order Character in even later books) to duck back to the monastery between adventures

Hi. Yes this question has cropped up a couple of times. The List of Special Items thread http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=41637&highlight= has a bit about it.

People seem divided. I like to think that even from book 1 you may leave equipment with the king and others but other members don't agree because the monastery is still a ruin.

Book 6 states for the first time that excess coins may be left at the monastery, as far as I know.

Book 8 states a limit on Special Items as 12 maximum but others may be left in Safe Keeping at the monastery: So in theory there is no limit to the number of Special Items you can carry from books 1-7.

Backpack Item and Weapons are not really mentioned much so it is up to you. I always thought of Safe Keeping as a place of storage but not really retrieval but it is a reaonable point.

So I would suggest there is opportunity to store/retrieve items from Safe Keeping in all the books EXCEPT between Books 10-11, 17-18, 21-23, 27-28.

Other books although instantaneous involve the monastery or individuals equipment MAY be entrusted/retreived from including 1-2, 8-10, 11-12, 19-20, 24-25.
