Stephen King's Dark Tower series?

Stephen King's Gunslinger would do well....a mix of guns, magic, medieval and modern...very good potential even if a lot of people aren't familiar with it.

And they should release it with Runquest rules so as to avoid problems with the 4e GSL.

Amen Brother, preach the RuneQuest...I've got another thread under the general topic forum where I talk about Rune OGl and 4e GSL...glad to see another person from the american side of the pond who agrees.

The Dark Tower would be a good transitional to a modern rune, as it has elements of both modern and medieval.

If they do it, I hope I get a free copy for suggesting it cause
these exchange rates are killing me. Everytime I have the website list it in dollars instead of pounds or euros I start to have a seizure.
of course it doesn't help that I used to order them through my local game shop instead of the internet where they are a little cheaper.

Anyway, I digress. The magic system for a Gunslinger game might take a bit of tinkering to keep it workable, but overall it would work. Mongoose could even advertise it in one of the Gunslinger Comics that came out recently.

On quite a similar note, I think that the Jerusalem Man (John Shannow) books by David Gemmell present a similar world to that of the the Dark Tower, but probably one that lends itself a little better to an RPG.

Regards,

Dave

The Dark Tower sries would be an amazing one to play in. Done in RuneQuest, I'd be tempted to stop playing other RPGs and just run that the rest of my life.

Wonder if King has ever gamed? He's into every other form of media.

And yea, if Mongoose can get the rights it should use Runequest...the setting would obviously not be OGL, but the Rune-OGl would make it easy for GM's to add their own little tweaks and post them without fear of lawsuit.
