Starting Cash

Perhaps a Profession check? Profession roll result x days worked - lifestyle cost and some sundry expenses for gear and extravagances? (preferably on the low side, too, since savings never come close to money earned...)

In fact, we have not played since a long time. I will begin season 2 of my campaign in two or three months and I will have new players with new characters. These new characters will begin level 3. Since their character are new to the game, they cannot do profession check since they were not here with the old players (the old ones will do profession checks). The issue is with determining starting cash for the new players.

Personally I'd give them the normal starting cash and allow them to select two or three items that they would already own.

Or just double the starting cash.

There's no hard and fast rule for it.

I would go ahead and give them their starting credits, but then give it to them AGAIN - but only in equipment and possessions.

So, if a guy rolls 1100 credits - give him that much in cash and also let him pick 1100 credits worth of gear.

It isn't a hard and fast solution, but it would show that they bought some stuff AND have kept up a savings, too.
