Matt forget it, the Neg's will ALWAYS find something to be negative about.

Don't take the high ground with me mate, you were still insisting that the skinny slaves were good figures last I heard. All of my negative comments have been shown to be valid with hindsight.
Despite what you seriously believe someone doesnt have to like EVERY SINGLE thing to be a fan of a product, the skinnies were rubbish and killed SST v1.0 simple as that.
I'm actually all for the prepainted models I know alot of people which will play (And pay for that matter) if they don't have to paint. I just happen to think pulling SST support foir eight months and announcing yet another game, might not be the best way to go about it.
Oh and I've never gone into a hissy fit and threatened to quit.

I'm not going to debate with you, but if you think this was SPECIFICALLY directed at you then you must have a guilty conscience.

I LIKE the Skinnie Slaves (and still do).

Hehe   but just htink Kirkmex, now we too can be those creepy 20-30 something guys who hang around shops full of kids playing "games" with them...
And who wants to have their ass handed to them by an 11 year old.... Or EVEN worse who wants to brag about beating someone the same age?

Hmm...pre-painted miniautres? Forgive me if this has been already asked (but I don't want to wade through 22 pages of posts)...

Will you still produce unpainted versions of everything, including the new stuff for those of use who still want to assemble, modify, and paint our own?

From what I've read - all existing unpainted versions will continue to be sold. I don't think it has been mentioned whether newer models will be available unpainted given that they would probably wouldn't be any cheaper (most likely they would have to be ordered direct from Mongoose as I doubt many stores would want to carry them) you're better off just spraying the painted ones black anyway ;)

I have been thinking though, I can assume that Mongoose must have had some warning about this (I doubt they could get to this stage in the ten days since this announcement from scratch), how long ago was this seriously considered an option for SST?

I think it's taken them until very recently to be sure the technology for the new figures would work out. I'm sure they've been considering it for ages, but not wanting to tell anyone until they were sure they could really do it.

Matt forget it, the Neg's will ALWAYS find something to be negative about.

YES - it would have been in place for a while - possibly ever since they got concerned over responces to some of the newer miniatures.

Possibly when the LAMI went wrong, there could of been a LOT of points where this started to be a consideration.

However, would it have been fair to mention it so early on - no, it would not.

Its great news I think, the only thing I think is a bit off is the timing. If this had been ready for Xmas, they would have made a killing! NO QUESTION!

And that isn't directed at me huh?

Nope it was for Matts benifit, as he's been trying to say good things and gotten shot down several times - I apologise for not deleting your qoute.

I know I don't

The thing I'm hoping for is that hordes of those 11 year olds will be spending tons of money on the game so that Mongoose can support lots of shiny new releases for the rest of us ;)

Just don't ask if they want to come and look at your TAC UAV, whatever you do.

Its never going to be a 'kiddy' game really I don't think.

Not unless Mongoose are planning their own chain of Stores, with REALLY annoying Staff who jump on you the minute you come in, and insist all these Kids have intro games and turn up too beginners days . . . . . . . .

Wow !!! There's an awful lot of screaming and crying going on here !!!

I've read the entire thread and gotta wonder...did the nay-sayers actually read the OP ???

The only thing I agree with is the long wait for this with no new stuff does not sound really good. But then I really, really miss Warzone and Chronopia. :D A lot.

Take faith fellow Warzone and Chronopiua fan, Prince August molds is selling a massive amount of existing stock gathered from all across Europe (And somehow has the molds despite them apparantly being destroyed as per Excelsiors insistance:
http://www.princeaugust.ie/

AND theres a prepainted miniature game which was announced months ago which is exactly the same in scope as this, except there are starter army kits which will contain a vehicle and troops etc:

Heh.

I still have some hopes there (for the kiddy game, not Mongoose stores in every high street, obviously). Two kids each with a couple of hundred points of infantry would be a very workable game with a handful of figures each on a small surface, that scales up as you go up the age/money scale to people playing with the full rulebook, full-sized tables, and masses of vehicles.

That on'e now due out in April, production issues. Even though I love FFG, I'd say that means the the following September.

Never gonna be a kiddies game?!>!?!?!?!
They're rereleasing it prepainted, with the rules condensed to two sides of A4! How is that not gearing it towards a younger audience?!?!

I'm so glad my FLGS shut down, at least I wont have to be seen buying the stuff :D

The thing that's offputting to many about Mutant Chronicles is that it is collectable. With SST you'll at least know what you're buying (and even be able to see the quality of the prepaints in the box before taking it off the shelf)

It is almost, as some have mentioned, the bridge between tabletop wargaming and CMGs.

Must everyone jump on the "kick GW in the ribs" bandwagon?

For whatever it's worth, I'll be buying those figs next year (and definitly the BF Evol ones)

I think the present challenge is to keep people interested in the game NOW.
What will I do except play a game now and then, where will I spend my money?

Please note, I don't do donations.

Now show us some sketches of the troops for BFE.

The Lt. is a converted fanboy, he used to love GW, and now loves Mongoose, but he feels the need to make a point of not being into GW almost every secound word lest anyone suspect :D

Actually the news regarding Warzone was you see what you're buying on the back of the box and its in units, its just its collectable in the exact same way every wargame is collectable.
Unless theres been some more news?

I NEVER IN THOUGHT I'D SAY THIS BUT.......

who wants to buy $3,500.00 of SST stuff????

i wish i was kidding, maybe i am, but i guess it just depends on the offers i get. I mean hell, if I have to wait a year anyway, and the stuff that's comming out is going to be painted better than my stuff, HELL WHY NOT!

PM or email me @ kirkmex@hotmail.com

*and NO, i'm not selling my s#it for ridiculously chep prices, so don't even bother* but if your legit.... we'll talk.

I think the earlier assessment, that it was aimed at Adult Wargamers with less time is a good one.

That one I have to point out an argument with.

I know a lot of older wargamers that don't like being bogged down with rules, and prefer to play a game where they can use real military tactics, while I know a lot of younger players that prefer to have a complicated rulebook so they can beat their opponents "at the game" rather than beating them "at warfare".

That's very much over-generalizing on my part, but I can see a lot of younger players not wanting it because it's "too simple and anyone can play it". I *do* think it will appeal more to younger players who don't currently play wargames in the first place, however.

BTW, I think it's two sides of A3 (not that that really makes any difference)
