Star Fleet Ships on Pre-Order + Special Offer!

thinkerman, only ships from the series which ADB has already used are available in this joint venture. However, there are LOTS of them so people can enjoy new ships for years to come.

Thinkerman: To expand on Jean's comments...

As has been stated in other threads, ADB's license only covers the original series and the animated series. And even then, it only covers item which have been already been codifed in the rules. Take for example. the Mugato from the episode "Gallileo 7". This would be a great creature to add to the forthcoming Traveller: Prime Directive role-playing game. But since it's not already in one of the existing versions of Prime Directive [GURPS, D20, and D20 Modern], it's not allowed.

While this limit seems a bad thing, there are contravening factors to consider.
1) The license doesn't expire! ADB has produced Star Fleet Battles for over 30 years now and will continue to do so for another 30 years... or more! This means that unlike the current licenses which are typically issued for a five year period then then not renewed, ACTA: SF will be be receiving new expansions 10 or 12 years down the line.
2) Even though nothing new can be added from Paramounts "offical" intellectual property, thatdoesn't mean that what's there is all there is. Over the last 30 years, ADB had continued to expand the boundaries of the Star Fleet Universe. Additional empires and allies have been added to expand the known portion of our galaxy and to providereasons why the Klingons or the Romulans haven't just taken over the Federation. There are simulator races designed to train academy students in the art of unconventional warfare. There are empires located in the Omega sector and the Megallanic Cloud.
3) There are currently over 2700 different ships in the Star Fleet Battles game. All of which can be introduced into ACTA. The current plan calls for ~60 new ships a year. This means that 45 years from now, we will still be adding new units to ACTA.

And to return the discussion to the NX-100. There are three "Early Years" modules for SFB that introduce the original warp powered ships for all the empires. Eventually these will also make it into ACTA.

oops. my bad.
But for what it's worth, the "Y" modules for SFB have ships from such an early time period that the UFP did not exist. In it you'll find Andorian starships, Vulcan starships, Rigelian starships, and even starships from some minor races that no longer exist in the Star Fleet Universe.

Do these ships have models at present? If not do they have images?

Is there anywhere to see them?

thanks

I might refer to the links in my last post...

The only "National Guard" fleet in the Federation to have had minis available are the Terrans. The old Terran CL is the same hull as the current OCL; the old Terran destroyer looked just like the modern police cutter. The other Terran hulls (WDN, WCA, WFF) were each based on certain Iron Crown miniatures, which were made available for use (or rather, for re-purposing) to ADB thanks to an agreement made a few years back. (That same agreement allowed for the five founding planets of the ISC to have their old fleets based on certain Iron Crown minis, too.)

Thanks - I think our posts crossed - are there any Klingon ships pictured from this period?

Also any non facebook pics?

thanks :)

The Klingons are shown on each of the three front covers of the currently-published Early Years modules for SFB (Y1, Y2 and Y3).

Does the £100 to qualify for the bonus cruiser have to be preorder miniatures, or will I qualify if I buy a fleet box, the rulebook and a blister (totalling £105, but only £85 of minis)?

Is that 100GBP on ships only or anything from the ActA:SF line (ie rulebook, bases etc)?

Also, while I think about it, is there going to be a Fleet Box for Cloaked Romulans like the Squadron Box has a cloaked counterpart?

Will the cloaked ships ever be made available as blisters?

1. Anything Star Fleet related.
2. We'll see how the squadron box does first.
3. Yes, every Romulan ship will have a cloaked equivalent. Just let us cast some up first (but they will appear fairly quickly).

First week of December I believe, so likely starting week commencing the 5th.

Rather terrifyingly, I've just pre ordered the rules, the Klingon and the Federation fleet boxes and spent my Christmas budget in one go.

Plus side, no doubt there'll be a tournament in Jan or Feb and this way I'll have a painted fleet.

If you don't have a fleet painted up to take part I might be able to lend you one. Depends how much painting I get done and how many points it is.
