SST Update

Hi guys,

We are currently talking with Sony as to how we want to handle the future of SST, and things are looking very positive. Sony have indicated they will get back to us with confirmation on our proposals within a week or so. All going well, we will lay out our plans for SST (and, God willing, BF Evo) in our regualr 'State of the Mongoose' near the end of the month.

I think I can echo Matt: SST is NOT dead and I think that there are INCREDIBLE things on the horizon. The signs and portents are all there.

In terms of BF Evo, I cannot promise anything, just pass on what I have been told. As far as SST is concerned, we just need the nod from Sony, and then we are off again.

_Please_ don't expect a flood of releases straight away - we are going to be tweaking a few things, binning some, and adding others, which will take a little development time. However, we will keep you informed at every step of the way, and give plenty of chances for you to make comments. As we did with CTA, we will consider SST your game, and will give serious consideration to all proposals.

There is also a nugget of SST info on Planet Mongoose at the moment, albeit for the RPG.

That won't have much of an impact, due to it being a DVD-only release. Of course, to fans of SST you could be right. While I don't hold much breath as to the quality of SST3:Marauder, I will be buying the thing for sure anyway.

Ya, I hear that Rico and the leader of the fourth will do hand to hand combat for fate of the galaxy, and we will see Rico's ability to fly manfest. He'll also start wearing a trenchcoat and sunglasses, even in the rain.

With the greatest of respect, you'll excuse me if I feel I've heard this sort of promising optimism before. I feel the onus is now on Mongoose to convince me they can save this game, rather than on me to show loyalty.

I'll keep checking back occasionally; I have a lot of SST stuff I have no intention of getting rid of, but I loved the game the way it was, and my patience has been sorely tested by months of silence, half-hearted promises and an almost weekly change in what exactly SST is becoming.

Yes, this is a pessimistic post; but I feel the time for blind optimism and hope has passed to be replaced by very frustrated waiting. And waiting.

The fact its not being refered to as SST3 to a degree makes me hope for a cinematic release...

And if not that means cheap SST3 uniforms on ebay Huzzah!
