SST EVO: Various questions

1) Has anyone been using the updated Air unit movement rules from MC for SST and has it caused any problems?

2) Why do the LAMI and PAMI have different point costs for the Reliant options?
Shouldn't upgrading from a Twin Fifty to a Flamer cost the same for either squad? I mean the pts are based off the weapon, not the user.

3) When an M8 shoots, does both Morita ape specials fire?
Same for any weapon it has two of.
By the rules it looks like no, but why have two Flamers or two sixguns?

4) Is the Avenger Bombardment Laser stated in one of the army books?

5) Does a psychic with enhanced Warning die if he fails the roll?
What if he is in a Marauder? Does he just take a hit? Seems kinda odd if so.

1. There were a several minor oddities that we had to house rule, but I can't recall them off the top of my head.

2. Because the troopers have different hit/save/kill if targeted instead of the turret & diff ability to move with/without the turrets.

3. only the # for multifire. There are times when range is better than higher damage and vice-versa.

4. Not that I recall. I turned it in during testing, but a fix was never released.

5. die - yup and 50%of the time which makes it useless IMO;
"On a 4+ he model takes a hit, representing the additional risk and mental strain the model is undertaking when trying to protect others"

There are no psychic models over 1 Hit, so yes.

He can't be in a marauder. The psychic upgrades are only available to the Agent. "The Military Intelligence Agent may be bought heroic traits up to a total cost of +100 points. These may include psychic Talents." The others are limited to Heroic Talents.[/i][/u]

1. I’ll just have to use them I guess.

2. Ok, I understand that, but the firepower the reliant puts out is the same no matter what. So maybe your answer is right, but here is what has me stumped;

2 LAMI and a Reliant with Twin .50 or Flamer cost 80pts
2 PAMI and a Reliant with Twin .50 or Flamer cost 100pts

2 LAMI and a Reliant with Javelin or Rapier cost 110pts
2 PAMI and a Reliant with Javelin or Rapier cost 80pts

2 LAMI and a Reliant with Bugbroom or Scythe cost 160pts
2 PAMI and a Reliant with Bugbroom or Scythe cost 130pts

Does this seem right to everyone? Maybe I’m just being thick.

3. I didn’t know the M8 had Multifire/2. Now that I do, Very cool! Wouldn't the Atlas Rig of the Grizzly's be the same? Time to update the Griz and CHAS to the new terminology.

4. Addressed in another thread.

5. L I B, I did not realize that. I mistakenly copied the psychic talents to almost everyone who could use heroic traits. Thanks for setting me straight.

6. If a multihit unit is hit for say 3 points, if it makes its dodge save does it negate all the hits? I’m thinking no, but hoping yes. :)

2: Seems odd, but the rules were still in development.

3: All Marauder suits have Multifire/2, replacing the old Lock And Load trait. The stats for the Ape Special represent firing both guns and counts as one weapon system.

6: You need to make separate Dodges for each weapon attack (if the rules allow it), but a successful Dodge negates all the damage from that weapon. It's been a while since I've played SST, but I'd check the rules to make sure you get multiple dodges each turn. I think you might only get one dodge and then have to use your armour save, but I'm uncertain.

2. No idea on an explanation other than it was still playtest and hadn't come up yet. Personal opinion is, remove the confusion of being a separate unit. Make the turrets "emplacements" available at a fixed cost and allow you to add them to your force as an option overall akin to tunnel assets for Bugs.

3a. description of the weapons
Code:
Morita Ape Special: This special adaptation of the Morita takes the operative parts of two rifles and builds them into the arms of an M8 Marauder suit, though they are also compatible with CHAS units. These weapons are used in tandem against single targets.

6. Dodge - It's made against every attack individually, and doesn't appear to have a limit of one per round/turn.
Dodge Saves
Some models will have two scores listed for their Armour – the second will be a Dodge save, allowing the model to nimbly jump out of harm’s way in the last instant.

A model’s Dodge save is never modified and will always be a straight roll on a D6. An Armour save, for example, can be modified by a Piercing weapon, but Dodges cannot.

Dodges can be used to try to save a model from harm even if their Kill score has been rolled, but you may only make one save against each attack, and so must choose between using Armour or trying to Dodge.

2. I think I'll take your suggestion and make them emplacements and standardize the costs across the board.

6. I'm changing the question a little.
If 3 firefries attack a marauder and all surpass the Target number, the Marauder gets to make 3 armor saves?.

6. Yes. If it were a PAMI sarge he could roll 3 dodges or 3 armor checks (most likely armor against Firefries since you can't dodge flame).

6: Amendment to my above post- rechecked the MC rules and there's no limit to how many dodges you get each turn. You can freely choose whether to use the dodge score or the armour save before rolling.
