Spinward Marches - Preferred Subsector?

Mithras

Banded Mongoose
What are your preferred subsectors within the Marches for an exciting game?

Mine has been Vilis, in the past. I liked the frontier feel, I liked the insurgency on Garda-Vilis and the nearness of SWord Worlds spies and raiders. I also liked The Abyss (that big gulf that starships supposedly vanish into and never come back out of).

What are yours? And why ...!

I have looked at using 268 for my new campaign, but I noticed a hell of a lot of deadly atmosphere worlds.

I like the politics though, there's plenty to do in 268, what with Collace, Trexalon and Forine. Not to mention the Imperials and Sword Worlders.

Lanth and Jewell - the former for the Abyss Rift (the opposite side from Vilis) and the latter for bordering on Zhodani space and for Esalin.

I've run a story on the reason why Esalin remains neutral territory between the two sides, always acting like a kind of gateway, like those old Cold War stories where the US and USSR would perform diplomatic exchanges of spies across the Brandenberg Gate and the like.

Both sides seem to think that Esalin's neutrality suits their side, so they choose not to annex it as long as the other side don't make the first move. And that seems to suit the diplomats of both sides just fine.

But what if someone, or some Thing, on Esalin is the real cause behind the status quo? That neither side, despite them thinking it's their idea, could actually be aware that their decisions have been covertly swayed by some force on the world that would prefer both sides to keep their mitts off their planet?

Or both sides fear something there...

D268 for me too, bordered by the Imperoium, the sword Worlds and to rimward the aslan (IMTU the aslan are just over the border in trojan's Reach)

I've been using Lunion and Mora for some time now, but I've recently been looking at Glisten with an idea of setting up a game trading round the Glisten ring.

No, I meant the ring of worlds: Glisten, Sorel, Horosho, Trane, New Rome, Overnale then back to Glisten. With possible side-treks to Craw, Tsarina, Callia and/or Bendor.

See: http://traveller.wikia.com/wiki/Glisten_Subsector

I thought that accident of astrography might give a little structure to a mini-campaign where the characters run a small trader, rather than just having them wander all over the subsector.

I've used District 268 for many of the previous mentioned reasons in the posts. The original Beltstrike was a great jump-offf for me.

I tried using the Solomani Rim, but it's just too settled.

The Islands subsectors were a great setting too.

Its a pity the worlds in the 'Glisten Ring' don't have too many exciting trade codes, really. Looking about I notice Lunion has a huge ring of j1 worlds, with a break in it. That would make a neat trade route, especially for a j2 ship. In fact looking at Lunion in Behind the Claw, there are lots and lots of exciting and unique elements that might make Lunion a neat subsector to RP in.

My favorite subsector is whichever one my players are in at the moment (currently Lanth). Honestly, there is room enough to find exciting things in any of them.
