Space Combat - tactical/aternative movement - High Guard

Mongoose
Hello!

I am new to traveller. I own the mongoose core rulebook, High Guard and Spinward Marches. My question is:
Does anybody use the alternative movement rules for space combat from the book High Guard with miniatures or markers? I am not sure if i understand them correctly. They say, you can apply thrust in any direction within the limits of the thrust value of the ship. If i do that, in my opinion i could double the distance i can fly every round?! At first I was happy to see the new rules in this book, because i think the standard rules for space combat movement in the core book are only working well as long as there are only two ships involved. When there are three or more, and every ship comes from a different direction, it is hard to say how the distance chanches between the ships, when they are moving. How do you handle such things?

I also would be interested how you handle tactical movement with ground vehicles in combat.

Thank you for your help! :)

Yes I have used the vector movement from High Guard (Actually it was the original ship combat system from Classic Traveller).

And yes as Vector Addition is used one can alter ones vector but the thrust rating of the ship every turn. I find it helps to draw out the vectors on the play space until all the player are used to the system.

You can use miniatures for space combat, it helps to have a couple of markers or drawing out the vectors to keep track of ship movement.

As for vehicle combat you can use miniatures, part of the problems there deciding your ground scale and miniature scale.
