1. Upto now, I had the believe that fusion guns were the replacement to laser drills.
2. Then I realized that using them is both explosive, and that it spews radiation all over, like what happens to that airliner when the passenger no longer had control over her bowels.
3. There's no real difference in performance between hardpointed and firmpointed laser drills.
4. Logic indicates that you can easily install a firmpointed variant in a hardpointed turret.
5. The reverse seems unlikely, or maybe it's because there's not enough juice available to push it to it's optimum performance.
6. Why, because outside of energy requirements, they both cost the same, and probably weigh the same.
7. For the two budgetted versions, you either compromise on accuracy or weight; the problem being, weight is considered virtual, so you're not going to get penalized by having something that already weighs nothing.
8. You have three premium variants, where the only disadvantage is being technological level eleven, cost being somewhat irrelevant in comparison; commercially, it's between energy saver or more efficient driller.
9. The long range one, obviously, is more militarily applicable.
