Softback, Softcover ... ?

Mongoose
Mongoose has announced Traveller Book 3: Scout as a "Softcover" and
The Universe of Babylon 5 as a "Softback", so there is probably some
kind of difference between a softcover and a softback - but neither my
knowledge of English nor my dictionary can determine that difference. :?

Could someone please give me a hint ... ?

Thank you very much ! :D

Softback is made out of the skin off the back of the slaves that toil to produce the books. Softcover on the other hand is made out of their rags.

It just has to do with what part of the book is softest: the cover or the back.

A softback has a a diamond like front cover, with a pliant, soft area in the back - like a Zelda enemy. A softcover is just the opposite.

But to be serious for a moment, there is no difference so far as I know.
Thank you - as a non-native speaker I get sometimes a bit confused by
English terms ... :D

Don't worry, sometimes they confuse us native speakers as well.

Though technically, since I'm from Scotland, my native language is bad English, like Bruce Willis in Fifth Element

Ain't is spelled with an 'i' :)

I'm just say'n - I gots words...

Americans don't speak English; I'm sure I heard John Wayne say in one cowboy film "Where did you learn to speak American?"

Actually I think English has nothing to do with it. I think it is Marketing Speak. Them and Lawyers do not actually speak English. They speak only jibberish.

I hate this magazine feel Softcover thing.
If all the supplements were Hardcover I would have to buy them for the joy of ownership.
............
!!!
which would cost lots

....

I quite like softcovers.
