So Your Character Has Some Psionic Abilities - What Next?

What do you do if you are a PC and you figure out mid play that your referee is a dirty psion loving sympathizer and that those "meditations" you did with your Mom as a kid that you see in flashback were really a form of psionic training and not some liberal hippy Zen nonsense just to make you more comfortable with Traveller because you are a yoga instructor IRL and now you have several latent psionic talents that you have been using on a regular basis thinking that your 6 and 7 success rolls were because the referee just happens to be your boyfriend and because you just gave him a really great %$&*! an hour before game play and now some stupid psychopathic reporter with a creepy sexual obsession for you thinks that you are a psionic and maybe even a dirty stinking Zho spy but suspecting this just creates a psion fetish in his head and makes him stalk you even harder (possibly a bad choice of word) and might turn you in to the Imperials but you cant just 'drop' your career and leave your family especially your Mom who teaches underprivileged children once a week at some school...

What will the Imperials do if they suspect you are a psion?

What will the Imperials do if they know you are a psion?

If the Imperium captures 10 psions from a psionic instute, what do they do with them?

I am looking for answers based on Traveller Canon, with references, if at all possible.

What does the Imperium do to them if they are found out?

Probably the Psi-Corps approach: if they have no particular reason to prosecute/arrest you (i.e. you've got psionic powers but haven't done anything specifically illegal with them), then they'll put you on a forcible prescription of something like an inhibitor drug.

The one in the rulebook will only last a few hours, but I guess that's no worse than some current medications.

If you're good enough, you'd be quietly shipped off to one of the Imperial psionics institutes that don't exist. Honest. Guv.

Space is big. Really big.

You go on the run, off the grid, find a low law level world to live on, change your name, avoid anything governmental.

Basically, you get on a Free Trader and take to the black with the rest of the player characters. Chargen as normal, but ignore the psionic stuff.

If a Life Event during chargen indicates you get to a Psionics Institute, it won't cost you - because you'll already be a psion, with a Psionic Strength and Talents. Or maybe you go for it and try and roll for more Talents and/or maybe reroll your Psionic Strength if you'd like to see if there's a chance it can be increased. (Select the higher roll only).

Then go off, meet Patrons and have adventures, while steering clear of governments of all sorts and sticking to those few communities which tolerate psions, or are psion communities themselves.
