Doesn't look that little sitting on my worktop waiting to get painted  The Germans work out at well over 3000 points, likely over 4000 if I use 2 platoons. The Russians can reach around the same if they take plenty of air and artillery support.
The full armies (projected anyway, some stuff is still on order) will look something like this:-
German Waffen SS: 2 Platoons of infantry (cmd with second AT team +3 squads, enough halftracks for one squad), 2 Tigers, 2 Jpz IV/70s, 2 Pak 40 AT guns, 2 SdKfz 222 A/Cs, 4 Kubelwagens, 2 Kettenkrads (surprised to see that they're almost as fast as the VWs, so I'll use it's stats but swap wheels for tracks), 1 halftrack\mortar, 1 halftrack\75mm, 1 Whirlwind AA, 4 mortar teams and 4 MMG teams. If I'm using only one infantry platoon they can be all armed with MP44s and all the heavy weapons options allowed. More than 3 squads and they'll need to be half MP44 and half K98/G43. The Halftrack platoon (with the 75mm version as support) plus the Tigers can come to over 3000 points on their own. Haven't really tried them out yet, so I don't know if such a small force (numerically) can deal with 2-3 times their number of Soviets. I can see me having flashbacks to Starship Troopers games when the Soviets use human wave attacks
Soviet Infantry: Either 2 foot or 2 desant platoons (or 3 desant and one foot/truck squad more usually, plus command for each platoon) with the desant platoons being all SMG-only (need another infantry box for more rifles, besides they've got a dirty big tank for fire support !), 6 T-34s, 2 SU-85s, 2 ZIS-3 AT guns, 2 Jeeps, 4 GAZ-AAA trucks, 3 each of sniper and HMG teams and 1 Sturmovik.
That's more than enough to be going on with, I think. I'm more limited by storage space than anything else, especially when I'll need to sort out some WW2 terrain as well (the Pegasus buildings look promising) . Main reason I went for Eastern Front stuff was that my table is textured in a grey/sand scheme for SST, as are my hills and such. Close enough.
