So I've been doing some painting ...

Mongoose
The first of my Kickstarter rewards have arrived, so I've painted up some of Brit-Cit's finest:

I've also painted up some of my Mega-City 1 Judges, from the good old days of Gangs of Mega-City 1:

I've added a couple more, that arrived through the letterbox in the meantime:

Street Judge on Lawmaster, Anderson and DeMarco:

A closer shot of Anderson and DeMarco. I tried to add DeMarco's freckles, but I'm not quite as skilled as the guy who did the one for Mongoose:

And since it's Christmas, and I remembered the cover to the Judge Dredd Megazine #279, I did this:

I don't have a painted Dredd, so DeMarco answered this call.

Some more shots of the Lawmaster:

Nice! What flavors black/gray do you use? You did a nice job with the black and shading/highlighting. I can never get black to come out properly.

The black is simple; base coat of black (I used Vallejo Game Color 72051 Black, but any black will do), then highlighted the edges with Vallejo Model Color 70862 Black Grey then VGC 72050 Cold Grey, and a final highlight on the very corners with Cold Grey mixed with white.

The blue leathers are VGC 72020 Imperial Blue, then two or three washes of GW Badab Black until it stops looking dark blue and looks bluish black instead, then highlight with Imperial Blue again and then a mix of Imperial Blue and VGC 72048 Sombre Grey. The plan is that all "black" leathers will be this blue colour and all black armour plate will actually be black, to keep a distinction between the textures.

Did you attach the judge to the lawmaster before you painted it? I'm about to start mine and can't figure out which way is best - on or off.

And now those fine (?) upstanding (?) citizens of the Citi-Def:

I've added some foreign visitors:

Judge-Inspector Iako Inaba:

Another Hondo City Judge:

An Emerald Isle Judge:

A Vatican City Judge:

And last but not least a Cal-Hab Judge:

my fellow painters of the awsomness of judge stuff, what do ye think?

They look pretty good. I'd suggest a green wash over the gloves and pads to bring out the details, and you appear to have a miscast Walter.

thanks for the tips guys, i used armourcast effects for the muzzle flashes and riot foam, and iv just bought a few more minis so ill throw them up when theyre done. :) i must say the minis on display here are savage good, im especially liking the murphyville dude but then i am a little biased being irish and all

Love the armorcast effects - I just picked some up a few weeks ago and had never thought of using the energy blasts as riot foam - I'll steal that idea if it's not too cheeky
