Slough Hand Signaling

Standing-Stone

Banded Mongoose
Remember, in the Slaine comics when the Skullswords were raiding a tavern ( I think it was in a place called Gavra.) and Slaine, who happens to be there at the time, typically fights back. Anyway, the Slough accompanying this Skullsword raiding party, ( I think he's called Slough Throt.) throws-up a hand signal for Slaine to be taken alive.

This Slough hand signaling, which I have also noticed else where in the comics on other parts of the story. Though they aren't as well remembered.

I was just wondering if this hand signalling has been ever researched fully and expanded on for the roleplaying game.

My memory and my interest in this, were piqued when watcing this on YOU-TUBE.

Of course I suspect it's not real or significant enough, though it could be as a few things in the slaine comic have been found to be true.

like the idea so will try to work it out as a form of drune battle language used by both sides(ie drunes and their warriors)

neat idea 8)

thinking still but think it would be more like modern hand signals used in combat than a compleat language so 2 guard you take out left I will remove other is easy asking for a brand of mead not :D

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that as well as being a written language, Ogham can be used as a sign language.

I think Kaiserjez is right there. [Flicking through 'Warriors Dawn to the page here Slough Throt is throwing up a hand signal.] It does look like a imitation of a Ogham sign.

Perhaps they need to spell out each letter to get a word or more easily they have speical hand signals or words, phrases [ There should be a list of pre-fab phrases or commands.] and sentences.

I think the obedient Skull Swords may have developed a skill or proficiency to pick up on this.

I'm not so sure if Druids use or know these same hand signals. Though,
knowing what they are, I guess it's also hard to imagine why not.

That's probably why there is 'Beth-Luis-Fearn' and 'Beth-Luis-Nion' among a few other different Ogham scripts for the different class's of person using them.

Just you try converting these oghams into hand signals.

Some of the stuff listed under the third and fourth Aicme is admittedly hard to do.

thank you for the links 8) also drune worship is to be warped goddess worship so would it not make sense that the language has been warped as well :?

oh-kay,....

[I just made a slight correction, so that last bit makes more sence.]

Drunes must have doubled jointed fingers if they can do all those.

I was just looking through alot of Celtic art on the web. Something to use as my avatar picture when I found this.

It's from the 'Book of Ballymote'

Of course it's hard to understand if your not familer with it and the characters are alittle small.

I thought the Ogham wheel at the bottom was interesting and I was wondering if anybody knows hows to use this.

p.s. This is the first time I succeeded in posting image directly onto the forum.

Ogham staves.
