the druids speak in them and witches use them?
the answer is riddles please share your best first so we can guess them and also use them to entertain the others in your group

Oh no the dreaded in Game Riddle.... to often players like to pretend they are so smart.... I hate them. Puzzles and trick questions, I am ok with. Poerty I can understand. Give me a riddle and I am f**ked

The land was white
the seed was black
it'll take a good scholar
to riddle me that.

What is it, ps I don't know....

Of course he walked a bit funny afterwards, and would never speak about the Ring without wincing.....

riddles can be fun... but there are times when the player doesnt know the answer, but the character should... what would you guys do then?

im not a fan of "lets just roll dice"

Well theres a few options

The first is the roll dice which I also dislike.

The second is to allow the player as many guesses as they have an int modifier (thus the intelligent character has a better chance).

Third, allow the role to give an additional clue

Fourth pay the consequences of not being able to answer (ie attacked).

Riddles I feel shouldn't be used as a central plot device, rather more a way of unlocking 'extras'. ie you don't have to answer the riddle to solve the problem at hand, but doing so might mean you gain a special bonus.

Here is one I found......

Die without me,
Never thank me.
Walk right through me,
Sometimes feel me.
Sometimes hear me yet
Never speaking and
Never seen.

What am I?

think the answer is air?

as the druids speak in riddles and rules the party have it easier if they can work it out but in true slaine style lots of violence will do the trick as well

works well enough i suppose

Tooth ya got it!

Yes it is in fact air! I agree die rolls are silly but giving the players chances at trying to guess it based on Int stat makes sense. Maybe even give a subtle hint.

I think it can really add to a campaign.

You are in a cold house in the winter. It is dark. You have one match. There is a candle and there is a wood burning stove. Which do you light first?

:)

Well it is actually the match. You light the match first. Here is another....

It is said among my people that some things are improved by death.
Tell me, what stinks while living, but in death, smells good?

This my friend is a pig. :D

Here is another.....

Each morning I appear
To lie at your feet,
All day I will follow
No matter how fast you run,
Yet I nearly perish
In the midday sun.

This should be an easy one..... :p
