Skill penalties for armor

Hi.

I was just wondering, are there really no penalties for evade/stealth and so on for wearing heavier armor? I am just confused since it seems appropriate, plus the item Tightweave Silk" from Arms&Equipment states "it does not pose any skill penalty".

Where is the rule I am missing?

In the core rulebook it lists the movement and initiative penalties caused by armor. I think they are listed in chapter 3, Game System.

In the first mongoose runequest, armor did impose a penalty on all physical skills like Stealth, Athletics, and even combat skills. They were very unpopular so they were removed from the second edition. However you could reimpose the penalty if you want to, I agree that some skills like stealth would be impaired by armor like in real life.

For every point of AP on the characters person, it would cause a penalty of -1%. So if you were wearing full plate armor, 6 AP, all over your body, which is 7 body locations. So 6 * 7 = 42%, you would have a 42% penalty to skills like Stealth.

Okay, so I haven't overlooked it anywhere then. Good idea for the stealth skill, I think I'll use it.
