Emperor Mongoose
Hi,

I'm thinking of playing one of the BFE games this year.

Initially I don't want to splash out on miniatures - that can happen later.

Instead, I'd like to use cardboard counters. Could someone please reply giving suitable sizes (in inches or centimeters) that the counters should be? I'd like to know the rough size of a MBT counter or an infantry counter should be.

Apologies if this question is answered elsewhere.

TIA

Ian

2D is simple enough, pennies for infantry and 2p pieces for heavy weapons. Let me know if it's MC or WAW you're interested in and I'll post some generic sizes for vehicle classes (not got them here, I'll measure them up later).

Thanks for that. Just bought a load of A4 card from a computer fair of all places. So the information is definitely needed.

I'd like info for MC and WAW. Ideally I'd have sizes for:-
light tank / APC
medium sized tank
MBT

Thanks,

Ian

If you use flat counters how do you get a model's eye view and/or judge lines of sight?

I did the same for MC before I decided to start a few forces.

Not really a problem with infantry since you know what height they are. With vehicles just designate what terrain they can see over (simple enough for walls and hedges, forests and buildings use the Cover LOS rules anyway).

Excuse the delay, the library was shut yesterday. The sizes below are rounded to the nearest 5mm (in case any of the more anal residents of this forum go "but my Tigers 83.2mm long" ) and are limited to what I've got as models or have stats for at home. If you want others or specifics there's plenty of websites that'll give you exact sizes (and if you're feeling artistic some have drawings of top down views you could resize and print).

WAW:- medium tanks 85x40mm, half-tracks 80x30mm, trucks 90x30mm,
armoured cars 60x30mm, Tiger is 85x50mm

MC:- Western MBTs 110x50mm, Russian-style MBTs 110x40mm,
Humvee/EQ-2050 70x30mm, heavy APCs(M2, BTR-T) 95x45mm,
Light APCs (WZ551) 95x40mm, LAV is 90x35mm,
Gunships 200x60-80mm.
