Size comparision between the Klingon D6 and Fed Constitution

Had the Klingon ships from the 2500 Klingon Squadron Box assembled and painted in front me last night, and was looking at the 2500 Fed CA (not assembled/painted yet) for comparision.

Does the Constitution look a little on the small side compared to the D6? It does to me... The miniature does not seem to be the same size ratio between the 2400 D6 and 2400 Fed CA (which I also got out for comparision).

I will have to do some measuring once the Constitution is assembled/painted, but right now it looks a little small...

I seem to recall that when the 2500's were announced, they said there might be a few size adjustments to be more accurate than the 2400 series. The 2500 Fed OCL for one is much larger, as in double, than the 2400 Fed OCL.

I guess I was expecting something on the lines of this:

The 2500 D6 Miniature looks almost the same length as the 2500 Constitution, and the Constitution's secondary hull looks positively scrawny compared to the D6.

Then again, the artwork is based off the AMT kits (and the diagrams in THE MAKING OF STAR TREK) for their general proportions.

So maybe I am just wrong...

Extreme care and attention has been given to make all Starline 2500 minis to be on the same scale. If that means they look different than the Starline 2400 and earlier ships, so be it. All the older ones were wrong, the new ones are as right as can be.

That may be, but hard to buy the "robustness" of the Connie's construction, when the mini looks scrawny next to her opponent...

:)

Did some checking last night. The published length of the Federation Constitution Class is 288 meters. The Klingon D6/7 Series is listed as 228 meters. This means that the Constitution Class is 1.26 times the length of the D6/7 series. It is a little hard to be exact on the measurement of the length of the 2500 Fed CA miniature (since it is not assembled yet), but I don't think it is going to be 126% the length of the D6/7 miniatures...

Will let you know when I get more exact measurements.

Or are these published lengths invalidated for the SFU?

I do beleive there were several conflicting "canon" sources for the D7 size. I haven't always agreed with some of the choices that were made (I think the Orion LR & CR are too big), but it's a lot betted than it was. The guy you need to ask is Will McCammon (Djdood) as to how/why they came up with the size of most of the ships. He's not the final-say guy, but he did have a lot of say into what they did.
