Mongoose
Here's one that just came up. I ruled one way, but I'm curious what others think the right answer is.

Thak and Bek are facing off, but a huge boulder separates them; they can not see each other. Thak faces South, Bek North. Both failed perception tests and can not hear each other. Thak casually begins walking West- back facing East- shield high and at the ready. Bek randomly SPRINTS East, around the boulder coming around facing West, sees Thak's back, and slams into him with his Spear.

Bek's Athletics skill is 55. He rolls a 65.

Does the +20 bonus for attacking from behind apply?

In this instance, can a chance of success exceed your Athletics skill?

Is this a hit, or a miss?

Is that a Mongoose east or a cardinal east?

He's sprinting so an skill cannot exceed Athletics - yes? The attack roll with bonuses for surprise and rear attack could be much higher than Athlestics. I'd probably rule No: although the Athletics test could be simple or easy (so a higher skill), but you described them effectively running in a circle: that sounds quite tricky at full sprint and the attack may lose their own footing as easily as the foe!
