If the president is on minbar, cant he hitch a ride on the new valen class without it being an ISA ship?

Being the president AND the husband of ranger one, I guess he can hitch a ride on whatever he wants :D

Dius Vintari is the Prince Regent, not the Emperor, that is Londo.

How can there be a Prince Regent when there's a reigning Emperor? Do you mean Crown Prince? Of course, he can't be Crown Prince, since we know Londo dies without issue and Vir Cotto succeeds him as Emperor...

Perhaps he is adopting? Very Roman empire thing to do!? does seem a bit odd? Maybe the Prince doesn't last too long - a Drakh experiment?

Maybe he is just a normal Lord going round telling all these gullible aliens he is a Centauri Prince? :D

Yeah i know I should watch the movie and find out! :)

have fun

That´s how JMS called him; maybe it´s a Centauri thing - the youngest offspring of the family of the first emperor, or something like that?

Well, the Centauri are aliens after all, so what they does not at all have to fit into human categories, ways of thinking, etc.

But since it is doubtful that such a young Centauri has already enough political influnence to be given a position of authority on his own, there seems to be at least some kind of "heir to the throne" mechanism within the Centauri gouvernment

Maybe a backup in case the Emperor does not have issue - Lodon def does not right? An officially adopted Heir is a possibility - may even be compulsary - I don't recal the "Prince" appearing in the Centauri trilogy ? But I could be mistaken. :)

I suspect JMS just liked the sound of "prince regent" so used it. After all, he correctly uses the term "regent" for the nameless official with the Drakh Keeper that rules the Republic during the interregnum between Emperor Cartagia and Emperor Mollari. He probably got the term from the regency period in the UK when there was a reigning king, but also a prince regent.

The Prince Regent is Cartagia's son. If Londo had not assumed the throne, it would have been his for the taking. He is the next in the line of royal blood, so I assume Prince Regent is appropriate.

You assume incorrectly. The proper term for such a person would be either crown prince or heir apparent... but since he doesn't get the throne after Londo, he's not really heir apparent. Crown prince would be the closest term, except calling him a prince of the realm and being done with it.

Heh. So now we are not only applying modern day ranks/titles to serie 250 years in future but also to alien race

are we surprised~? he doesn't understand military ranks or warship terminology either!

My guess is he's supposed to succeed Londo. Would Vir really be the choice of the Centarum?
I think Vir comes to power rather than being in line of succession

I quite like the idea of using the valen class in ACTA, like someone before me said, we whine enough about not having cannon classes to use, and when we get one we moan because it looks to hard????

Take the presidential version as a template, beef it up in terms of rules, and then tone it back down using common sense and rationality, in an effort to balance the game and then you have your normal variant.

Since Earthforce One rules were mentioned but never forthcoming; I don't see a reason to make IA-One in game terms even if it is for one off scenarios.

Unless the scenario is going to "Final showdown at Minar" where the rest of the galaxy turns against the ISA and pimp slaps the minbari homeworld, when exactly are you likely to nail the sucker down to one spot long enough to fetch it a sucker?

Go on, lets have it as nice new addition to the ISA fleet, but make it sensible and balanced and leave IA-One well alone.

It may be difficult for you to understand, but when you use existing terms, in any setting, you either use them correctly, or you look like a twat.

Obviously Vir isn't really Emperor. He's Friendly Dictator For Life. People just call him Emperor out of memory of the last few rather crazy people who sat on the throne such as Londo and Cartagia.

Do you ever think you're taking things too seriously?

So Cartagia - Caligula, Londo - Nero? Vir - Claudius?

slightly different order but still.............. :)
