Triggy

Mongoose
I've been debating in my mind whether to go ahead and purchase fleets in the final three races that I don't have any fleets for. These are Gaim, Raiders and Dilgar. Each fleet would cost about £60-£80 and give me 5 FAP at Battle, Raid and Raid respectively. I still have to assemble my Narn, Vree, Drazi and Brakiri fleets but these will be done over the next six months or so. The question is, do I need any more and if so, what should I go for? The Raiders fleet is tempting as something that is much more of a challenge and again a completely different fleet to play with :)

Does anybody think this is something that's worth it and if so, how much of it should I go for?

What I would buy:

Gaim
1 x Boxed Set
1 x Stuteeka War Carrier
2 x Stak Scout
+ a number of Klikkita/Klikkitak blisters.

Dilgar
2 x Kahtrik
1 x Garasoch
3 x Rohric
2 x Jashakar
2 x Thorun Dartfighter blister
2 x Thorun Torpedofighter blister

Raiders
2 x Battlewagon
2 x Strike Carrier
2 x Freighter
4 x Delta-V blister
4 x Delta Double-V blister
4 x Delta-V2 blister

Some Dilgars would be good if you don't like beam or are just unlucky.
You hit hard at mid-range, very hard (hopefully no beam)
(Some of my shadows tested the tripled criticals ....)

but raiders look like an interesting challenge ;)

Triggy is usually lucky with his beam hits, in my experience. He is often heard apologising to his opponents for his beam hits.

:) I think my luck averages out - that still doesn't mean that I don't apologise when I get good rolls. I always feels a little bit awkward when luck is a deciding factor in battles. I may need all the luck I can get with Raiders if I go for them!

2 x Strike Carrier

do what i did and cut the fighters off the ships :)
minus 6 blisters of fighters!

The Gaim are bent and evil, so no on them...

You can borrow my Dilgar if you want to play them, so save your money...

Raiders would be cool though...
Well the Gaim are getting redone and I have a strong idea of what sort of changes will be happening :P

As for the others I know about your Dilgar offer, it is appreciated but you still don't have the ship configuration I would choose for my own fleet so hence the choice...

Thank you all for you kind thoughts.

After much deliberation I decided that the challenge of the Raiders was a good one but have only gone for the core ships and will make do with counters for the fighters (taking a leaf out of Ben's book!) to cut down on costs (it saves £65). To play Dilgar, at least for now I'll live without them but could always take David up on his kind offer (his fleet is good, but I'd have chosen the slow Dilgar rather than the fast Dilgar).

This at least leaves me with two fleets to collect (and the Raider Fighters) if and when Mongoose restart miniature production.

Now all I need is for Matt to host a 5 FAP Raid PL tournament so that I can take my Raiders...hint, hint ;)
