Shipping costs and US tariffs?

Dalton Calford

Banded Mongoose
I live in Canada and I normally purchase everything that Mongoose produces (yea, fan boy completionist, I own the moniker).
But with all the current trade war actions, combined with the books being published in the US, are any actions being taken to redirect publishing from the US to other countries to avoid the extra costs?

I am sad to say that I will stop purchasing anything printed in the US until the current administration is no longer in power.

Understood.

The short answer is that I don't think anyone in the world knows how all of this is going to shake out right now.

However, at this time, we are not printing in the US (we have done in the past, the three Core Adventures, for example) and while Canadian orders are shipped from the US at this time, we can change that to shipping from the UK at the drop of a hat (likely for no increase in cost to Canadian gamers).

This is something we are obviously keeping a close eye on at the moment, but we need to see how things end up going before we can start putting solid plans in place.

That is interesting, all my books (and I own all the MGT2 books up to about last summer) have the Studio 2 Publishing logo on them and their head office (as per their website) is in Knoxville, TN. All the tracking came from the states for the shipments and your change from printing in the US must have happened relatively recently.

I love Traveller, I really appreciate what you have done with the license and I am looking forward to how you bring the IP forward. But, I am very reluctant to do any business with any company in the US even if they are just a third party service provider. I know that Canada is not the largest market and if that means that I may not buy anymore Traveller products, so be it. I have stopped my drivethrurpg purchases and I am hoping that I don't need to stop buying Traveller.

I hope this resolves quickly.

No, not at all - aside form the three Core Adventures (which we did in the US during Covid), I cannot remember the last books we printed there. Entirely possible there will be some over the past 24 years, but nothing rings a bell. Certainly not in the current edition Traveller range.

As for Studio 2, they are the very best people placed to get your Traveller books to you (which have not been printed in the US). Nice guys too. However, if this remains a problem for you, drop us a line at sales@mongoosepublishing.com before you place an order, and we will see what we can do for you!
