Ship Suggestions/Changes - Vree

While I realize that not everyone will agree, I am going to start a thread for each race with which I have familiarity (so no Abbai or Drakh from me) with various suggestions that I have to better balance the ships. Feel free to comment, add your own suggestions, ask me to explain a suggestion or disagree in the thread.

Here are my Vree suggested changes:

Xixx: Increase Antimatter Torpedoes to AD 3

Xaak: Increase Damage to 39; Increase Crew to 45
 
Xixx: Disagree. Would make them alittle too powerful for skirmish choices

Xaak: Agree. Wouldn't mind it being more durable since it is a battle choice in their fleet
 
I'd only do the following:

Xeel - Reduce it to 4AD.
Xaar - Reduce the AD to 3.

Other than that I really like the balance of the Vree.
 
I have to agree with CratZ. The last thing the Vree need is improving. they are one of the most feared fleets in our group as it is.
 
You guys are smoking something...The Vree are eggshells with hammers!

Sore the hammers are nice...but really! The Vree have one, ONE ship at skirmish or below that is hull 5...the Xarr. Only ONE raid selection, Xill and every single ship has not been given enough damage. At all!

The standard battle choice (a Xaak) can be taken out in one volley from a skirmish level ship (had it happen at least 3 times to me...no BS). Just played two games today in our local campaign here in Colorado Springs, Co. vs Centauri...5 pt raid (carrier clash) and a 5 pt skirmish (annihilation).

Before I tell you the results let me say that I've been playing Vree from day ONE in this game. No one else. I have won several tourneys...having said that:

Results today: lost both to Centauri! didn't even kill one single ship in return...not even a frigging fighter!

So, don't tell me that the Vree don't need "buffs" (whatever the hell those are).

Add more damage and crew to ALL Vree ships. Increase the weapons ranges to 1st edition (torps:30" cannons 20" shredders 10") and then we can talk about the Vree being "Feared"

Centauri are probably one of the better fleets for taking on vree though, ion cannons are absolutely brutal against low hull ships. I've yet to beat my mates vree with my EA third age. We keep on rolling for astroids in our games, and trying to winkle the vree out from behind astroids is a headache.

It is true, Joboo does not love your Vree. Mine, on the other hand, he usually blesses. If they are a balanced fleet, it is a delicate balance. They can be death saucers or cup saucers being used for trap and skeet.
 
One of the issues I had with the general power upgrade was that it left little if any room for coming back from a bad turn, as a bad turn usually means half your fleet blew up.

Vree suffer from this more than most, as they blow up easier. Same as my Drazi in many ways. Difference is that Vree output is very stable (lots of AD and with good levels of AP), so you don't get many spectacular moments to balance out when the other guy does.

I really find it kind of odd that the Colorado folks seem to experience things so differently than a lot of other groups I've talked to. Your Narn rock, your Vree suck.... what's in the water out there?

No. My Vree rock. Don't worry. It's the altitude. ;)
 
suggestion:

Xeel: Hull to 5, change PL to Raid.

The ship is basically a skirmish and a half right now, with a full patrol point of hard as nails fighters and equivalent weapons to other vree skirmish ships.
