Ship Suggestions/Changes - Drazi

Everyman

Mongoose
While I realize that not everyone will agree, I am going to start a thread for each race with which I have familiarity (so no Abbai or Drakh from me) with various suggestions that I have to better balance the ships. Feel free to comment, add your own suggestions, ask me to explain a suggestion or disagree in the thread.

Here are my Drazi suggested changes:

Claweagle: Add Dodge 6 trait

Darkhawk: Increase Missile Rack to AD 6

Jumphawk: Increase Damage to 17

Nightfalcon: Add Dodge 6 trait; Add 2 Star Snake Flights

Stormfalcon: Add Dodge 6 trait; Increase Particle Cannon to AD 4; Increase Heavy Particle Blaster to AD 8

Fireraptor: Add Flight Computer trait; Increase Heavy Particle Blaster to AD 10; Increase Damage to 70

or a diet plan so it can move a bit faster on a sleeker frame

it does need something -given its "I ate all the pies look" damage /crew increases seem most likely........

Given its got the same ISA assistance as the Narn - perhaps Interceptors 2 ?

The only thing Drazi need is "Follow that target" special action. Oh and maybe Claweagle becoming a twofer. They are really weak ATM, but they make a good distraction so they do have a role.

Due to the horribly irritating thing about an entire boresight fleet, the simplest way I can think of to mitigate it is to give them a fleet special action similar to the following:

- a single drazi ship or squadron that does not turn during its activation may attempt to execute the Raptor's Prey special order with a Crew Quality check of 9. The ship/squadron must complete all other required movement, i.e. half move, but may not make any turns until the end of the movement phase after all other ships have moved. If it passes its CQ check it may make a single turn of up to 45 degrees in any direction. The ship may use this order to bring its boresight weapons to bear.

Basically, represents the Drazi singling out enemy ships as "prey."

I thought about letting all Drazi ships attempt it since it is a CQ of 9 and only a 45 degree turn, but who knows. If not, then perhaps one ship (not a squadron) could do so automatically? Basically, I understand the limitations of an all boresight fleet, but I think the mechanic is too much of a handicap in a lot of instances. JMO though...

Cheers, Gary

Agreed with the Follow That Target! Special Action. I'd also increase the Fireraptor's Damage/Crew by about 15 (its firepower is already good enough, it just doesn't survive).

too bad a 15-20 degree 'bore sight' arc is considered too difficult to impliment. I think that would fix a lot of bore sight problems.

One of the biggest problems I see with existing Centauri, Narn and Early Earth fleets are those annoying 2-for-1 Patrol choices. They don't need a ship that is THAT good for such a cheap price.

Meanwhile, the one fleet that does need that sort of ship, does not have access to it!?!

Take the Claweagle, don't change it and possibly give it a 2-for-1 Patrol price and perhaps people would start using them AND finding their existing fleet more interesting...

Even better then a Hyperion.

@ Topic: The Fireraptor definitly need a boost as it is a weak War Level choice. Peerhaps add in some weapons to the both sides so it does not have to rely solely on its front weapons.

The other Drazi ships a IMo fine so far, perhaps change some of the non beam weapons to a front arc.

That would have been my biggest request would have been some front arc weapons on a couple of ships so that even in smaller games you could get a ship or two that didn't need to be specialists and not have ships not fire at all if you lose initiative (and mind you, that's without the other guy moving more than a millimeter, not like he 'dodged the bore').

The 'raptor really should have had some side weapons.

The nightfalcon needs a couple of extra Star Snakes and fleet carrier. It's a battle level ship with raid level firepower and only two patrol worth of fighters, that sounds like everyone else's fleet carrier. And keep it the same speed as the Storm. (We learned to keep the strikehawk and warbird the same damage wise... how did this not get applied to the nightfalcon. Should have been the same conversion... just more weapons for more fighters... no visual differences between the ships)

- btw... firehawk... two beams... drazi beams are nose mounted or 'forehead' mounted, but it still has the four barrels in the wings, why if it doesn't get the twin-linked weapons these would represent? Go watch the show... you'll see.)
