Ship purchase formulas V2

Banded Mongoose
I'm guessing the ship benefits table lost the cost per share in an attempt to fix the problem with shares being sold and the share value inflation when trying to buy a larger ship.

The formula stayed the same, though. It's referencing remaining shares*share value=loan balance. Without the share value calculation, the formula is broken.

I do like the substitution of the ship's boat for a shuttle. It can't be sold for nearly as much and is more useful for smaller ship owners.

Ack. Assume, for the moment, that shares are one meeelion credits each, and that scouts are ludicrously overpriced. It's on my to-fix list, but I'm still fiddling with ship prices and gathering information on how many ship shares people are ending up with.

Ship prices shouldn't be "fiddled" but should be calculated using the design system... IMO & IMGO

I am in favor of "Ship shares" remaining nebulous in terms of actual value, but even if they are not, they hould be non-transferrable. I have already told my group that they can NOT sell their ship shares for cash. So they either contribute them to the group's ship or they lose them.

I'd call 90% of a ship share to be something along the lines of favors being called in. A Marker of sorts that many people accumulate over the course of a career. Heck, I called in a marker recently to help a friend get a job with another friend's company. Some of it would be represented by maybe a trust fund for a specific purpose (like putting into an interest bearing college fund).

I do see that a character would have to put up *some* cash. Maybe 10% or even the amount they would get by rolling a 6 or 7 on the cash bene table of the service they got the share from.

In the game I've just started one player has his own lab ship (being mostly a scholar by career and scout for the last one) and as a game subplot I introduced a mining vessel he inherited from his late uncle which was supposed to introduce the rest of the players as already members' of its crew.

A year later one player still hasn't replied until I lent him my copy of the core rules ignoring the fact everyone else emailed me queries so one player had his finished and was working on the Fulacin star system using Gurps Space 2nd edition and the other who doing his and his wife's characters had managed to reach their 2nd tour by this stage.

He came up with a former Citizen turned Scout who got shares in a ship which turned out to be the mining vessel, the other two characters only one ended up with ship shares so she became a partner in the new "business".

So one player now owns two ships' admittedly the mining vessel is jointly owned with the main pilot (Citizen/Scout) and the third player is his lawyer and accountant (Psion/Corporate Citizen) is the other shareholder and the last player who has his own suit of combat armour has none.

Since going by the game events so far they're going to be stuck at Kinorb whilst an Imperial investigation attempts to find out whats been going on at Kinorb that means actually making a go at a business there until his lab ship is released since from what i read from Beltstrike going mining is going to be a little difficult well until they figure out they can hire someone else to do it and have adventures of their own!

Four years in already? That's kind of scary, actually. Makes me wonder what Mongoose is going to do with the second half of their license period, given the volume of stuff we have already.
