Ship Identification Etiquette

Yeah!....them nasty cheaty folks need a witness....unless two cheaty folks get together...and then you need a third witness...and a hidden camera to catch the pay-off of that guy...and...

Generally don't play with hidden stuff. It just promotes a certain level of distrust at what is supposed to be a fun experience. No better way to dig a hole in an otherwise good friendship that to play with even the perception that cheating could have occured. Once people get their hackles up even once the amount of effort required to get said hackles back down is enormous, and totally out of line for what is supposed to be fun time.

We play normaly like this.

First show the fleet list. What is on the table must be declared when some thing from hyperspaces enters say what it is.

In an Fairgame even Losing coud make fun.

Yeah...say what you have available...as each ship makes it's appearance say what it is to be clear.

Love the line...in a fair game even losing can be fun...always the way it should be.

You want fun, go buy a monkey!

Seriously though, when playing games of this type people need to remember that no matter how unrealistic it may be it IS a game and things should generally be as open as possible.

And if you want to dig holes in friendships just try playing 'Diplomacy' Now THATS a homewrecker of a game if ever there was one ;)

We used to play Diplomacy when our group was bigger...

Seriously we ended up banning Diplomacy, Kingmaker and Illuminati (the original one) from our game rotation due to the number of nasty arguments they generated. We played Star Fleet Battles, which has lots of hidden stuff and had more than a few nights where folks were speculating one who was doing what with mid turn changes...convenient mine placement, that just a touch of extra tractor, cleverly placed shield reenforcement...just not generally worth it.

On the up side...monkeys are fun....and I should indeed get one.

Diplomacy is a fantastic game

for another fight-starter try "Monsters Menace America". I've seen "Why are you always picking on my monster!~?" arguments there!
